When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?
06/01/2023 June is for Juggin
We made it y’all, another month of OTA, and fresh off the press we have another promotion ready. Leaving behind the opening bonus sadly, we welcome the jugggggg! June is for juggin AKA working hard, so we are making it a double rewards month for every mission completed! Yes we said it's double rewards, now you all can really get into the thick of those builds if you work hard enough. And who knows what you might uncover in the process. AND all jobs are free to enroll no quest EXCEPT ANBU(Black Ops) roles.
In addition to acting as the army for their country, the ninja village also acts as a business by essentially contracting their armed forces out to private parties. Each day clients will come to the village and pay for the services of the ninja, requesting jobs that can range from the mundane, such as walking the feudal lord's dog and keeping it safe, to the assassination of deadly wanted criminals.
These jobs are thus divided into difficulty ranks, each of which are assigned only to certain shinobi - D, C, B, A, and finally, S. If the mission is completed successfully, the client will then pay the village, which in turn pays the shinobi after taking a percentage; however, upon failure, no Mission Rewards will ever be rendered. Please note groups taking missions in a group must each complete the post requirement. Meaning if a duo goes on a D-rank mission they each have to make three posts to complete it.
Missions are an essential way of keeping your village afloat, and keeping yourself in the game. Although it is up to the village's Kage to make relevant missions with difficulty based on task, not writing length, the player is more than welcome to attempt and create their own in the Custom's board!
Note: You can take up multiple missions at once in some scenarios, in the most common cases it could be traveling, and another mission in another continent IF it's a mission available. When taking up multiple missions at once, everything doesn't have to be done in one thread. As long as you're keeping track of how many post have happened.
ALSO - some missions may not require the full posting count to be met when it involves player characters or random encounters it all depends on the situation.
Ranks & Rewards
D' – The easiest and least deadly of jobs, these missions are almost always given to the Genin. These missions help to build teamwork skills among the new Ninja Academy graduates, and are therefore non-combativeness with low pay. An example of such a mission would include aiding an important client by babysitting their child or pet, or even searching for a lost, valuable item. These missions, if completed successfully, yield 100 EXP and 10,000 Ryo and will require 3 post for completion.
'C' – Assigned to skilled Genin and on occasion Chuunin, these missions involve some sort of physical exertion on the part of the shinobi, with the possibility of combat lurking. Injury is therefore something to be expected should the participants somehow fail. An example of such a mission would include protective escorts, capturing wild, dangerous animals, and even mine clearing. These missions, if completed successfully, yield 200 EXP and 25,000 Ryo and will require 5 post for completion.
'B' – Now things get serious. With the anticipation of combat with other shinobi, only skilled Chuunin are deployed on these tasks. These also include protective escort, gathering foreign intelligence and even the intensive killing of ninja. Open battle is generally not an issue during this mission type, as it is expected at this level of combat. These missions, if completed successfully, yield 300 EXP and 50,000 Ryo and will require 7 post to complete.
'A' – The near impossible tasks, and as such, assigned almost always exclusively to Jounin. These include vital missions between nations, escorting VIPs and creating maneuvers against offensive ninja forces on a large scale. In the end, these missions will almost always involve combat and risk of death, something the shinobi must be at peace with before accepting the mission. These missions, if completed successfully, yield 400 EXP and 100,000 Ryo and will require 9 post for completion.
'S' – If a 'A' ranked mission was near-impossible, then consider these possibly world ending. Reserved only for the more elite of Jounin and available Sannin, these missions involve the assassination of important persons such as other Kage's or even a Daimyo, decimating a village, starting a war, or even transporting classified documents and materials that could potentially start or end one. These missions, if completed successfully, yield 600 EXP and 150,000 Ryo. S-rank missions can be no shorter than 12 posts.
It should be noted that Kages have the ability to bypass the "rank" requirements for missions, and can assign any level mission to any shinobi, regardless of their personal rank. Missions should be justifiably written out in correlation to their rank. Should your kage feel you did a poor job at your mission, they do retain the right to decline your completion rewards.
