A P P E A R A N C E --With hair the color of blood common to his lineage Kongo's wine colored mane makes him look very much the part of a wild man. However his dress attire does much to refine him bringing him to the cusp of the appearance of a civilized wildman. His hair is oft kept in a ponytail and draped over one shoulder. At its longest his hair is lengthy enough to reach his collarbone and is seldom allowed to grow longer, nor often cut much shorter. Occasionally he will wear his hair naturally allowing it to hang in free suspension. More often, his hair is kept in place by head wrappings or bandanas. His eyes are commonly obstructed by visors or other abstract sunglasses, as he usually prefers to keep himself and his whereabouts concealed. It is not lost upon him that wearing such things on his face will create the same kind of lasting image seeing his face would, but he reasons that he can always change what he wears to throw others off.
Kongo's desire for concealment has caused a saturation of dark color articles of clothing in his attire. Jackets, hoods, coats and cloaks are his mainstays depending on the locale and climate. Likewise his bottoms collection only has a small amount of shorts and his footwear is almost exclusively boots and tabi boots. At just above the six foot barrier Kongo is still a growing but his physique left much to be desired. Although his vagrant and nomadic lifestyle has kept him fit and conditioned his muscle tone is not as defined as he would like, and he is a bit lanky for his tastes. Like many aspiring shinobi he has some amount of scars uniquely marking his frame.
P E R S O N A --Let's not split hairs, Bidada Kongo is a class one opportunist. His loyalty is to himself and his return to the reliquary above all else. By extension of that ambition he intends to make Iwagakure flourish. He is not above doing the unsavory to get closer to his ambition. For him, the ends at times justify the means. Kongo by no means goes out of his way to screw over others to his benefit but if an opportunity presents himself he will be hard pressed not to take it unless others have to suffer for it. Standing in spite of this selfish trait is the man's dislike for those who thrive on the suffering and ill fortunes of others, a view he only took on after his own selfish past resurfaced and pushed him further back from his goals.
Although not as passive as his Nara-kin Kongo will take the time to weigh his options whenever a critical choice is to be made that has no clear and immediate "right choice". The young takumi has long since learned to take a joke and take an insult and is not very easy to goad into a fight nor provoke.
Not a loner by nature but by circumstance, his combat abilities and nomadic lifestyle make it hard to establish strong and symbiotic partnerships. He is open to friendships but does not believe in simply labeling someone a friend. Bonds are developed, not decided and thus anyone would could potentially be a friend must be vetted and pass the tests of time. In the past the Nara-Uzu mutt has always moved on too frequently to facilitate those naturally occurring tests. Like his father before him Kongo is respectful to women but not particularly chivalrous; to him woman are not helpless damsels to be rescued and taken as prizes nor is it acceptable to marginalize them on the battlefield. Just as men they have their victories and failures as do women. To him, they are no better or worse than his own sex.
Also traits from his father Kongo prefers, but does not truly believe in, fair fights. What's more is that information holds ultimate value for him and thus shapes his decision making at every turn. Even the mere prospect of attaining more information has caused him to become a person who makes their decisions as close to wire as possible. Some men act and react instantaneously, Bidada Kongo looks, and then thinks, and looks one more time before leaping.
S T O R Y L I N E --Born unto a nomadic woman of the Uzumaki and a Nara of Uzumaki decent Kongo's life was sent upon on its unique trajectory due to the history and lineage of his parents. Nara Shi'Kuyo and Mugen Mori were both leaders who became business partners. When their responsibilities as leaders were relinquished they remained partners and expanded their business eventually merging much of their assets in an effort to create a foundation for a new generation of Uzumaki. Their common ancestry and shared ambitions facilitated a strong coupling between the two who were also both craftsmen. His calm and calculating nara nature meshed well with her impulsive and headstrong tendencies.
Though Shi'Kuyo was the master Mori was a certified and fully fledged takumi herself. In their time together he was able to teach her much and her very support enabled him to reach new heights in their shared profession. Their symbiotic relationship evolved and progressed to intimacy and infatuation before they realized it. After long their days were spent in a fashion that was the envy of their peers; creating items and artifacts the likes of which the world hadn't seen since its birth and then selling them off to the highest bidder. By night they traversed the dangers of the Reliquary for the parts they needed so that they might continue to create new marvels for sale or alternatively sale the rare components directly.
The funds were a means to an end, finances that would serve as a foundation on which they would restore the ruins of the Uzumaki bloodline. At some point their professions shifted from Craftsmen to Treasure Hunters and they began to spend more time in the fabled walls of the Reliquary. It was behind these walls that Kongo was conceived. Thus it should come as no surprise that when her water broke and Mori went into labor, it was during a routine search of the exclusive and supernatural vault. Luckily the pair had all they required to provide a safe birth for their child.
Shortly after his birth, while his mother was still too weak to move, Kongo was separated from his parents and ejected from the Reliquary. In the arms of a kage bunshin spawned from his father the newborn was delivered to the hands of the Nara Ichizoku, a contingency Shi'Kuyo and Mori had both carefully set in place. Expecting to only care for the child until his parents returned for him the Nara eventually had no choice but to declare Shi'Kuyo dead and Mori trapped inside the Reliquary as Shi'Kuyo alone was the only takumi known who could venture to such a place. When it was clear his parents were not coming the shadow masters raised him as one of their own which genetically, he half was. For fifteen years he followed their ways; learning patience among other things and exercising it to his limits while waiting for the opportunity to return to his birthplace and piece together what happened to his parents and at the very least, continue their work.
Before long their nomadic ways become to dangerous to continue in a world of budding ninja enclaves. When word reached them a powerful Kaguya was forming some such enclave in the heart of earth country, the Nara were hard pressed to resist the chance to unite with the other clans in stability and safety.
Even progressing through the ranks thoughts of his parents were never too far from his thoughts. Of course only a takumi master can find their way to the Reliquary's doors, let alone penetrate them. So before he can find the answers he seeks he must perfect his profession and craft. For now he bides his time studying ninjutsu carrying out missions for Iwa's financial gain.
