[nospaces] [attr="class","believeBG"] [attr="class","believeHead"] [attr="class","believeIcon"] [attr="class","believeBody"] The history of the Sumi Clan is based on the ancient Chinese Folk Tale of Ma Liang and the Magic Paintbrush. It was a story about a poor but talented painter- called Ma Liang – who received the gift of a magic paintbrush. This paintbrush had the ability to bring life to anything that was painted with it. The young boy used it to help his fellow villagers survive under the tyrannical rule of a greedy Emperor.[break][break] Over the centuries the story had become greatly exaggerated, and the family name evolved from Liang to Sumi. Some elements of the story are true, however, in that the Sumi Clan is a clan of artists with the ability to bring their art to life. Because of this, they have been negatively seen as a clan of mystics or sorcerers and are sometimes outcast by other villagers because of their mysterious techniques.[break][break] Members of the Sumi Clan often are seen wearing kimonos for their comfort. They all have pale skin, as their skin truly doesn't tan well, for their skin is very fair. They all have dark hair, unless dyed another color, and generally have dark colored eyes. Members of the Sumi Clan generally stand between 5' 1" to 5' 6" for females and 5' 9" to 6' 1" for males. Generally fairly tall, these individuals then focus on making their appearance less frightening so as to maintain patronage.[break][break] The clan is not run predominately by either male or female. Indeed, there is no true clan hierarchy, for everyone simply lives their own quiet lives. To the Sumi Clan, art is an expression of freedom, and the ability to live ones' life as they will it is paramount to their beliefs. There is a deep bond of trust that goes through the bloodline of the Sumi Clan, as well as to those who join the Sumi Clan, that no action shall ever be taken by one member of the Clan to another member of the Clan that would ever remove the sanctity of freedom, either in life or expression.[break][break] The Sumi Clan, as a whole, has no true goal beyond the creation of the best art that they are capable of. The interpretation of that art is completely up to the user, so long as it does not infringe upon the ideas of freedom that the Clan holds so dear. If a Clan member is caught infringing upon these rights, they are considered to be outcasted from the Clan, and will have every active Sumi member hunting them down.[break][break] Special Trait: Takumina Petenshi (Artful Dodger)[break] A distinct advantage the Sumi Clan has is that they can perform perform their techniques with a single hand, leaving the other free for enemy counter-attacks. Sumi Clan ninja can also create explosive tags with their ink (only one pack's worth active at a time) and can draw long lines of tags attached to their creations, allowing them to bombard enemies with a volatile surprise.[break][break] Restrictions[break] 1. The Sumi clan is a Ninjutsu primary clan[break][break] tools[break][break] Shodō Set[break] Rank: C[break] Type: Equipment Set / Primary Weaponry[break] Cost: 3,000 ryo.A small, rectangular box that carries a painting scroll with a special paintbrush and ink well built into the spool around which the paper is rolled. The Shodō Set can be easily holstered to a shinobi on the go and removed with the ease of a katana or any other standard ninja tool. A marvel of ingenuity, the ink will not spill from it’s unique holster no matter how it is held, making it perfect for use in the field.[break][break] Note: A special case used exclusively by the Sumi clan, this set of calligraphy items is tucked into a durable and portable box. When purchased, this set comes with a blank painting scroll, a standard paintbrush, and a small ink bottle.[break][break] Painting Scroll[break] Rank: C[break] Type: Secondary[break] Cost: 1,000 ryo.A simple, blank painting scroll which is used by members of the Sumi clan. Made from simple mulberry paper, it can be completely unrolled to it’s full length of 3 meters, though rolling it back up would take a lot of time. When portions of their scroll become damaged or worn out, the can simply be torn off to access new paper easily.[break][break] Note: 1 per pack.[break][break] Paintbrush[break] Rank: C[break] Type: Secondary[break] Cost: 1,000 ryo[break] Special: 2 per packA wooden paintbrush made from durable wood, these instruments of art can also be used to block C rank and below strikes in a pinch. [break][break] Note: 2 per pack.[break][break] Ink Bottle[break] Rank: D, C, B[break] Type: Secondary[break] Cost: 1,000 ryo | 2,000 ryo | 3,000 ryo.[break] Unique ink utilized by the Sumi clan, their medium of choice can literally jump from the pages utilizing the proper techniques. The numbers below represent the amount of jutsu the Sumi clan shinobi can cast before running out of ink and needing to refill the bottle or replace it with a new one. D-rank ink bottles can facilitate five jutsu; c-rank bottles ten jutsu; b-rank bottles fifteen jutsu.[break][break] Note: 1 per pack, regardless of rank.[break][break] mastery[break][break] Tier 1 Mastery - A Seamless Stroke of the Brush: [break] The Sumi clan member has mastered the art of painting, allowing them to paint perfectly regardless of where they are (upside down, side ways, or even with their eyes closed) or while in motion. They are also capable of drawing ambidextrously. [break][break] Tier 2 Mastery - Art Never Dies: [break] For an artist, it is absolutely pain staking to see something pass away. Some move on to bigger and better things. For the reluctant Sumi clan member, if one of their prized pieces of work is destroyed, beaten or otherwise removed from the fray, as long as the Sumi clan member makes physical contact with the ink used to create the technique, and repay the cost of the technique - it will be immediately be born into the form that it was before. (This is with all Sumi techniques, not just creatures made from Chōjū Giga [Super Beast Imitating Drawing].) This cannot be done a second time on the same ink used to create a technique.[break][break] Tier 3 Mastery - An Artist's Bane, No More [break] Parchment, wood, rock, paper, ink. The bane of any artist is the supply of using a material to create their work. However, masters of the Sumi clan who have utilized their arts have been able to take it to the next level. As long as they have a brush, they are able to forgo their biggest weakness: Materials. With an added cost of 1x Mid with every technique derivative of Fūinjutsu or Sumi Hijutsu. In combination with their first mastery, 'A Seamless Stroke of the Brush', they can create (from the brush itself) and write with their ink on ANY material, except the air itself.[break][break] Sumi Shourei no Jutsu (Ink Message Technique)[break] Rank: D[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: Low[break] Instead of using their beasts for combat, Sumi clan members can ‘encode’ a message, map, or note inside of one of their creatures and send them away from their current position with the objective of passing on the information at a rendezvous point where it can be picked up. The range of Minu Ga Hana does not apply to these notes, however, they are limited to traveling within the same country the user is presently in. [break][break] Sumi Shimi no Jutsu (ink Staining Technique)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 1[break] Chakra Consumption: Low [break]After spilling ink on an opponent, the user forms a single hand seal, causing the ink to temporarily stain an object. Because it contains the users unique chakra signature, other shinobi cannot duplicate the stain even through cloning techniques. This allows the user to mark certain objects and distinguish them from others. Likewise, it also gives a sensor ninja something to target specifically (for shinobi who can erase their own, personal signatures and turn invisible).[break][break] Note: This ink remains in play for the duration of the thread. Furthermore, this requires a full bottle of ink to accomplish.[break][break] Sumi Bunshin no Jutsu (Ink Clone Technique)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 3[break] Chakra Consumption: Mid per clone[break] Sumi Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. After performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to create a highly durable clone composed of ink. Unlike its clone counterparts, the ink clone has actual mass and substance, thus making it hard to see through. The clone will revert to ink if either it is struck or the user is rendered unconscious.[break][break] Note: This clone must stay within twenty meters of the user. Despite its extended range, these clones must be created within three meters of the user. [break][break] Sumi Gasumi no Jutsu (Ink Haze Technique)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 3[break] Chakra Consumption: Mid[break] Sumi Gasumi no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. After performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to surround themselves with ink, using it to conceal them while they escape. This technique is very useful when used with Shunshin no Jutsu.[break][break] Sumi Nagashi no Jutsu (Ink Flush Techique)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 3[break] Chakra Consumption: Low[break] Sumi Nagashi no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. After pouring their ink out and performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to mix it with water, allowing them create things from it (such as restricting coils of ink). This can only be used for natural water.[break][break] Choujuu Giga (Super Beast Imitation Drawing)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 4[break] Chakra Consumption: Mid[break] Choujuu Giga is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. After drawing out what they want with ink and performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to make their creation spring to life, obeying their will. This is mainly used for creating animals, but can be used to create tools as well. It cannot be used while raining.[break][break] Note: The user may create up to twenty small creations (such as mice, sparrows, fish); or fifteen small creatures (hawk, hare, etc); or ten medium creatures (lions, wolves, horses, etc); or five large creations (elephant or larger); or two giant, enormous creatures up to ten meters tall and five meters wide per cast.[break][break] The user cannot draw and summon another creature until all the creatures of their previous cast have been destroyed. These creations can travel a maximum distance of sixty meters from their creator. this technique has durability similar to level 5 defense, can move at level 5 speed, and have striking capability up to level 5 strength. EVEN IF you're using 15 small animals, or one large one the damage will always equal out to the same thing.[break][break] Sumi Tsuba no Jutsu (Ink Spit Technique)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 4[break] Chakra Consumption: x2 Mid[break] Sumi Tsuba no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. After performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to create ink from their saliva, allowing them to fill up their bottles. This technique can only be used every 3 turns.[break][break] Henkou Chikei no Jutsu (Altering Terrain Technique)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~10m), Far (10m+)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 6[break] Chakra Consumption: x2 HighHenkou Chikei no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. Instead of merely bringing creature to life, the user has the option to totally change their surroundings, disguising objects, transforming terrain, and even creating shelter out of their artwork. This technique cannot remove objects like trees magically, but they can be disguised as other things. Once used, it takes 1 full turn for the terraforming process to be completed, with changes occurring closest to the artist and spreading out accordingly. This technique can only be used by itself.[break][break] Fuuinjutsu: Koshi Tandan (Sealing Technique: Tiger Vision Staring Bullet)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: 6[break] Chakra Consumption: x2 High[break] Fuuinjutsu: Koshi Tandan is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink. After performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to create a tiger from their ink capable of capturing its prey with its teeth and claws, pulling them into a scroll to be sealed. The user must hold the last hand seal of this technique until it is complete.[break][break] Note: This technique can only be used on larger, s-ranked scrolls. The user does not need the "Fuuinjutsu skill" in order to use this technique.[break][break] Fūkyū Seizui no Gachi(Immortal Essence of Artistry)[break] Rank: SS[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary, [break] Handseals: 57 - 3 to Summon[break] Chakra Consumption: 3x Massive (For sealing), 2x High To Summon[break] As the Sumi clan have always been resident artists, renowned for their supreme living art, one particular Sumi clan member took it upon themselves to take the next possible step, removing the humanity of someone and replacing it with their own creativity... to turn their targets into living artwork, as the said user did this to his family. The procedure is fairly simple in simplicity; the user places the target on a large canvas of sealing scrolls, and begins to draw around them the Kanji for art (アート), placing the user in the middle. [break][break] After doing this and performing the handseals, tendrils begin to rise from the Kanji, enwrapping and entrapping the target, after fully enveloping them, the ink is then immediately transferred onto another, smaller canvas or scroll of the user's choice, and the painting of that target will show up on the chosen piece. If the target moves at any given point, the sealing is canceled.[break][break] Note: The technique seals away a (PC) or (PLOT) character whence subdued into a painting, effectively killing the target. The target can then be reborn as a living ink picture, utilizing all previously known techniques and bloodlines (Katon and Suiton techniques are supplemented with ink) like a clone, but must be supplemented with the user's chakra, like a clone. They do not keep their own chakra. The user can do all of the handseals in ONE post, but must not continue the thread for two days (OOC) before the sealing is actually "complete" allowing people the chance to save the target. [break][break] 1. The user must have previously learned all indexed Sumi clan techniques.[break] 2. The user must have all three masteries.[break] 3. Knowledge of this technique is extremely rare, and thusly a user must perform a special s-rank quested in order to obtain it. This technique takes up a Kinjutsu slot.[break] ulla [newclass=.believeBG]background-color:#fff;width:400px;padding-bottom:20px;border-radius:10px;box-shadow:#ccc 4px 4px 5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeHead]background-image:url(https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.08d5c463318820d006ab96f2d0712b5d?rik=%2bT63MmFx9UrhRg&riu=http%3a%2f%2f25.media.tumblr.com%2f8d701543e207e8da2d189963fc0335c3%2ftumblr_mt8cevrk4s1sxw86wo1_500.gif&ehk=O9LDbkOWfR6mAHldEuWMaswclVVFcriafyi9HxY%2bFKM%3d&risl=&pid=ImgRaw&r=0);background-position:center center;border-radius:10px 10px 0 0;height:175px;-webkit-clip-path: polygon(0 0, 100% 0, 100% 100%, 0 75%);clip-path: polygon(0 0, 100% 0, 100% 100%, 0 75%);[/newclass] [newclass=.believeIcon]-webkit-transform:rotate(-39deg);float:left;margin-top:-70px;margin-left:50px;border:#fff 5px solid;background-color:#fff;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeIcon IMG]width:65px;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeBody]padding:20px 40px;font-family:arial;font-size:10px;text-align:justify;color:#3a3a3a;line-height:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeBody b]color:#00;font-family:varela round;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeBody i]color:#888;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeButton]background-image:url(https://i.pinimg.com/originals/49/98/9e/49989e61e44b15452f882ce5f8ba1af6.gif);background-position:center center;-webkit-filter:grayscale(60%);height:40px;width:80%;border-radius:80px;box-shadow:#ccc 1px 1px 3px;color:#fff;line-height:40px;font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:10px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeButton a]color:#fff!important;font-weight:400!important;[/newclass] [googlefont=Varela Round]

One Day at a time

Prelude -
When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?
