[nospaces] [attr="class","believeBG"] [attr="class","believeHead"] [attr="class","believeIcon"] [attr="class","believeBody"] The Eight Gates are eight specific points on a person's Chakra Pathway System. They limit the overall flow of chakra within a person's body. The basis for the idea of the chakra gates comes from the body's limits on the functions within it. This makes the body much weaker, but it keeps the body from expiring too soon. By opening these gates, the user can surpass their own physical limits at the cost of extreme damage to their own bodies.[break][break] Restrictions[break] Hachimontokou requires Administrative approval.[break][break] 2. Only available Taijutsu Primary characters can undertake Hachimontokou, which requires a Kinjutsu equivalent quest. Also, this is the only Kinjutsu available to Genin.[break][break] 3. Rank will play a large role in the unlocking subsequent gates. The rate at which they can be unlocked is as follows:[break][break] Due to the unique and extreme nature of the Gates, the maximum amount of turns the celestial gates can be used is five. These uses are linear and do not stack, meaning you cannot sit in gate one for five posts and then enter a new gate. Instead, you will either need to:[break][break] A: Spread your uses across whatever gates you have. An example would be spending two turns in gate one, and then the remaining three turns in gate four.[break][break] or,[break][break] B: Use your gates for the full five turn duration, and then reactivate them after they've "fallen off." It should be noted that the damage caused to the user by activating the gates stacks, thusly doing more to the user the more they deactivate and reactivate the gates.[break][break] The Celestial Gates can only be activated three times per thread. On a final note, when gates are active, one cannot Shunshin NOR pair their effects off with boosters such as the Cursed Seal![break][break] It should be noted that the Celestial Gates can't be paired with unique blood line abilities, such as sizing techniques (Akimichi), body alternating techniques (such as the Kaguya, or Kage-Hebi), or unique clan-specific fighting styles (Jyuuken, though the user can still have their Byakugan active). Furthermore, all gates will need to be prepped before being used. This means that you cannot charge and use the gates in the same post. You will need to begin activating the desired gate(s) in a post, and then use it in your following turn.[break][break] Note: the stats granted by gates do not stack[break][break] Gates[break][break] KAIMON (gate of opening)[[break] Rank: SS[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: Mid to activate and sustain[break] Description: The first stage of the Eight Gates, the Gate of Opening is located in the brain, and upon activation, releases the brain's restraints, allowing full power usage of the body's muscles. Unlocking this gate allows the user to use extremely strong techniques, such as the Iron Fist's Frontal Lotus.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of d-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats of strength, roughly +1 point towards STR. Because of this increase in strength, a marginal increase in speed is also obtained (due to the muscles being able to generate more power) equal to +1 point in SPD. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active.[break][break] Note: Accessing this and the subsequent techniques require that the user have acquired every "Goken" technique in it's tree, and has at least one mastery in it. This technique, as well as the subsequent Hachimontokou techniques (just the gates), occupy a user's kinjutsu slot.[break][break] KYUUMON (gate of rest)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: Mid to activate, 2x Mid to sustain[break] Located within the brain, the second stage of the Eight Gates, the Gate of Rest, raises stamina and assists in recovery after being weakened. By further boosting one's inner strength, they subsequently re-energize their body.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of c-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats of strength, equal to +1 point towards STR, and temporarily rejuvenates the body (1 High worth of chakra for the duration this gate is active). Because of this increase in strength, a marginal increase in speed (+1) is also obtained (due to the muscles being able to generate even more power). Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. Note: The user must know Kaimon, the 1st Gate.[break][break] SEIMON (gate of life)[[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: High to activate, 2x Mid to sustain[break] Located within the spinal cord, the third gate, the Gate of Life, begins to prepare the body for extreme movement and muscle destruction. Low-level shinobi and enemies without refined dojutsu (any non-Uchiha or Hyuuga) have a very difficult time keeping up with the user's movements, while more experienced shinobi (dojutsu or not) can perceive the user's motions with relative clarity. However, the user's body is left intact for the most part, as this new level brings the user mostly benefits. A notable feature of this gate is that the user's skin suddenly begins to turn red.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of c-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats of strength equal to +2 towards STR. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. During this fatigued period, the player will only be able to use taijutsu-based techniques of a-rank and below. Note: The user must know Kyuumon, the 2nd Gate.[break][break] SHOUMON (gate of wound)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: High to activate, 2x Mid to sustain[break] Located within the spinal cord, the fourth gate, the Gate of Wound, further's the body's destructive potential, evident by a more intense shade of red taking the user over, as well as a powerful aura that flows all around them. With this gate in effect, enemies without a refined dojutsu (any non-Uchiha or Hyuuga) have an extremely difficult time comprehending the user's movements; they're barely able to make out a blur. Furthermore, even those possessing the fabled Sharingan and Byakugan now have a high difficulty keeping track of actions executed at such a high speed. At this point, the user's muscles slowly begin to tear from use.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of b-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats, equal to +2 point towards STR, and +2 point towards SPD. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. During this fatigued period, the player will only be able to use taijutsu-based techniques of b-rank and below.[break][break] Note: The user must know Seimon, the 3rd Gate.[break] TOMON (gate of closing)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: High to activate, High to sustain[break][break] Description: Located within the abdomen, the fifth gate, the Gate of Closing, further's the body's destructive potential, evident by a more intense shade of red taking the user over, as well as a powerful aura that flows all around them. Typical shinobi simply cannot comprehend the user's movements past this point, and are often struck before they even realize what has happened. Those possessing the aforementioned dojutsu (Sharingan and Byakugan) can rarely catch a glimpse of the user's movements, though nothing more of a muddled blur and hardly coming in use for anything battle related. The environment itself takes a brutal beating from even the faintest of the user's movements, often causing massive explosions of dust and debris to spew in every which direction. This gate causes severe trauma to the user's body, as both their muscle tissue and skeletal structure are heavily damaged from the strain this gate causes.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of b-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats, equal to +3 points towards STR & Speed. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. During this fatigued period, the player will be unable to use any form of taijutsu. Once the fatigued period is finished, they will only be able to use c-ranked taijutsu and below for the remainder of the thread.[break][break] Note: The user must know Shoumon, the 4th Gate.[break][break] KEIMON (gate of joy)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: 2x High to activate, High to sustain[break] Located within the 'stomach', the sixth gate, the Gate of Joy, further's the body's destructive potential, evident by a more intense shade of red taking the user over, as well as a powerful aura that flows all around them, causing any loose and malleable substances such as water to swirl and vortex around the user. The user, quite literally, seems to simply vanish and appear where they wish. The free flowing chakra and life energy is almost a pleasurable feeling, the being of joyfulness. Unfortunately, the pain and damage caused to the user's body by this gate is quite extensive, nearly double that of the fifth gate.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of a-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats, equal to +3 point towards STR & SPD. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. During this fatigued period, the player will be unable to use any form of taijutsu. Once the fatigued period is finished, they will only be able to use d-ranked taijutsu and below for the remainder of the thread.[break][break] Note: The user must know Tomon, the 5th Gate.[break][break] KYOMON (gate of wonder)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: 2x High to activate, 2x High to sustain[break] Located just below the 'stomach', the seventh gate, the Gate of Wonder, further's the body's destructive potential, evident by the mundane shade of red taking the user over, as well as a powerful aura that flows all around them. In addition to the vortex of power from the previous, Kyomon causes the user to begin releasing a coating of glowing green sweat from their flesh, evident by the strain of the technique. At this point, visualizing the user (even with the aid of a dojutsu) is all but impossible while at full speeds. The user, quite literally, seems to simply vanish and appear where they wish. Unfortunately, the side effects of opening the gate are that the user's muscle fibers are ripped to shreds, causing intense pain if anything or anyone touches them.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of s-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats equal to +4 points for STR & SPD. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. During this fatigued period, the player will be unable to use any form of taijutsu. Unfortunately, even once the fatigued period is finished, the user will still be incapable of performing any taijutsu for the remainder of the thread.[break][break] Note: The user must know Keimon, the 6th Gate.[break][break] SHIMON (gate of death)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: -[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: -[break] Chakra Consumption: -[break] Located at the heart, the eighth and final Celestial gate, the Gate of death, maximizes the body's destructive potential. Completely filled with the entirety of their body's chakra reserves, their bodies are transformed into beacons of burning white light. With the release of Shimon's energy, it causes its entirety to amass around the users heart, forcing it to pump at maximum speed in order to bring about the bodies absolute physical peak in exchange for the users very life. While in this state, the user's power is said to rival that of even the greatest of Kages, allowing them to perform utterly inhuman feats of strength and speed. It is highly unlikely that there are any living shinobi capable of defeating a taijutsu-user who has been forced to activate this technique.[break][break] Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of s-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats of strength and speed, equal to +6 points. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer the ultimate penalty: death. This technique places the user in a class of their own. [break][break] Note: The user must know Kyomon, the 7th Gate.[break] ulla [newclass=.believeBG]background-color:#fff;width:400px;padding-bottom:20px;border-radius:10px;box-shadow:#ccc 4px 4px 5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeHead]background-image:url(https://i.imgur.com/Xr0PRCL.gif);background-position:center center;border-radius:10px 10px 0 0;height:175px;-webkit-clip-path: polygon(0 0, 100% 0, 100% 100%, 0 75%);clip-path: polygon(0 0, 100% 0, 100% 100%, 0 75%);[/newclass] [newclass=.believeIcon]-webkit-transform:rotate(-39deg);float:left;margin-top:-70px;margin-left:50px;border:#fff 5px solid;background-color:#fff;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeIcon IMG]width:65px;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeBody]padding:20px 40px;font-family:arial;font-size:10px;text-align:justify;color:#3a3a3a;line-height:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeBody b]color:#000;font-family:varela round;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeBody i]color:#888;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeButton]background-image:url(https://i.pinimg.com/originals/49/98/9e/49989e61e44b15452f882ce5f8ba1af6.gif);background-position:center center;-webkit-filter:grayscale(60%);height:40px;width:80%;border-radius:80px;box-shadow:#ccc 1px 1px 3px;color:#fff;line-height:40px;font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:10px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.believeButton a]color:#fff!important;font-weight:400!important;[/newclass] [googlefont=Varela Round]

One Day at a time

Prelude -
When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?
