[nospaces] [attr="class","believeBG"] [attr="class","believeHead"] [attr="class","believeIcon"] [attr="class","believeBody"] The ability to fight with the sword is one of the most sacred of arts. There are many different swordstyles, but the most basic of all forms is usually considered to be Kenjutsu (Sword Arts). While the techniques are generally fairly simple to understand and use, they are by no means to be considered weak or underpowered. In fact, they stand as a testament to some of the most powerful attacks within the world.[break][break] Kenjutsu itself is broken down into two arts: Battoujutsu and Iaijutsu. The first, Battoujutsu, is a style that focuses almost completely on offense, sacrificing many defensive qualities just for the ability to rapidly cut, slash, and kill the opponent. On the flipside of that, Iaijutsu is a style that focuses primarily of defense through evasion, parry, and riposte. While the masters of Kenjutsu are incredibly proficient at one style, they may only learn the basics of the other style due to a conflict of training and utility.[break][break] Restrictions[break] 1. Both Kenjutsu styles uses one-handed swords; katana-like weapons. While this does not mean a user cannot place both hands upon their sword, it simply reference for size (and thusly weight).[break][break] 2. Kenjutsu practitioners can only master one of the Kenjutsu paths. This means learning up to the s-rank techniques on one of the paths, and only the d-rank techniques of the secondary trees. Only Taijutsu Primaries can learn up to C-rank techniques in their secondary sword style.[break][break] Tier 1 - Tatsujin-ken Sōgiri: Due to their dedication to the blade, the Kenjutsu practitioner's techniques now all cost one tier less of chakra, with the absolute lowest being one Low worth of chakra.[break][break] Tier 2 - Sōgiri: Every Kenjutsu attack utilized by the swordsman is accompanied by an extra push of force, increasing its effectiveness (equivalent to having been struck by the same technique twice in the exact same place). This allows the user to turn even a faint, seemingly harmless strike into something that, if delivered in the proper location, can be quite fatal.[break][break] Tier 3 - Ukenagashi: Kenjutsu offensive techniques are capable of dismantling moderately powerful, tangible ninjutsu (b-rank and below). This means that they can deliver a blow so powerful that it will effectively neutralize the technique in question. The chakra required to do so is equivalent to the technique in question, and stacks on top of the kenjutsu user's maneuver.[break][break] Offensive [break][break] Battojutsu[break] Rank: D[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Low [activate] - [maintain][break] This technique concentrates a kenjutsu practitioners focus. It allows them to steel their nerves by transferring a little bit of chakra all around there bodies. This chakra relaxes the user allowing for sudden or intricate movements to be done with little margin for error.[break][break] Dorokendageki (Draw and Strike)[break] Rank: D[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Low[break] The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to first draw with increased speed, then thrust or slashe with the blade so fast that the effects of the hit are after the user sheathes.[break][break] Nibaigiri (Double Cut)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to cut a fluid swath before using the same momentum to deliver a final vertical slash.[break][break] Tsukesagiri (Cut and Thrust)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to thrust into the opponent and then punctuates the movement with a harsh vertical or diagonal slash, which leads them to sheathe their sword once again.[break][break] Tsuka Dageki (Hilt Blow)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close )0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals:--[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] A technique that is used by the holder of the weapon to suddenly launch the hilt of the blade outwards from any position. The main function of this attack grants the user the ability to use the blunt end of the hilt while it is still encased, and move it forward to suddenly strike the opponent. The attack is so quick, due to the method of movement, that it is a extremely difficult to predict technique, and usually ensures a hit if performed on a unsuspecting target. Note:The stunning power of this technique is one turn after contact.[break][break] Saya Dageki (Sheath Blow)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] A technique performed by the user to quickly pull the sheath from the blade, as opposed to pulling the sword from the sheath, to strike out at an opponent who may be behind or otherwise not in proximity of a sword attack. Due to the unpredictability of the attack, as well as the overall speed of the attack, the opponent is sure to be struck if they are unsuspecting of it[break][break] Note: The stunning power of this technique is one turn after contact. [break][break] Sobajitengiri (Side Spin Cut)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] Performed from a standing position, the user quickly spins a 360 rotation on their outer foot, spinning around to the side of the enemy before striking down with a powerful vertical or diagonal slash. Performing the technique before the opponent's melee attack can hit provides great use as they may be unable to react or counter in time.[break][break] Kōbu Ni Tejun (Step to the Rear)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] After gathering a deal of chakra in the legs, the user pushes off with a great deal of speed and agility that they end up directly behind the target, creating the perfect opening to deliver a follow-up attack.[break][break] Sandangamaegiri (Triple Cut)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid [Per Attack][break] The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to unsheathe their blade, before beginning to slash once and then continues on with their forward movement, which allows them to cut the opponent with additional blows with their chakra enhanced speed.[break][break] Note: This technique depends entirely on the success of the first strike. Once the first strike hits a total of two more strikes can be placed after the first one.[break][break] Joushou Giri (Rising Cut)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: High[break] Commencing from a crouching position, the practitioner rises, grips their blade with both hands and then delivers a devastating slash that allows them to capitalize on an overextending opponent.[break][break] Note: By continuing with the motion, the user can utilize the momentum behind the attack and follow it up with 'Morote Giri' for a fluid one-two combination. [break][break] Morote Giri (Two Handed Cut)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: High[break] Commencing from a standing position, the practitioner gathers their strength for one moment, and then strikes with their sword in both hands, performing a single strong attack that is capable of breaking through defenses and delivering massive damage.[break][break] Marugiri (Circle Cut)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: High[break] Commencing from a kneeling position, the practitioner draws, rises and spins in one fluid motion, forestalling opponents all around and then quickly sheathes. Rotating a full three hundred and sixty degrees, this cutting strike is useful for assaulting targets all around the user at once. Upon finishing the twisting cut, the user sheathes the weapon.[break][break] Senkou Zuki (Flash Thrust)[break] Rank: A[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: x2 High[break] Using a vast amount of mental focus, the practitioner nearly-instantaneously draws, thrusts at an opponent and sheathes again, all in the blink of an eye. It is fabled that even the famed Sharingan has had trouble following a blade swung under such pretenses.[break][break] Sanjuu Kenippen (Triple Blade Slice)[break] Rank: A[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: x2 High[break] Commencing from a kneeling position, the practitioner lunges towards one or many opponents, focusing his mind and skill on striking those before him. The user then draws, slashing from one side to the other, and spinning instantly through again for another cut, then a third and final spin to finish the opponent(s) off. The strikes are quick enough to believe one sees three blades slashing, not one and due to the erratic fashion of the technique, can be applied to multiple opponents or just one.[break][break] Kagirinai Hagane Hitosashi (Endless Steel Dance)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Offensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Massive[break] Commencing from a standing position, the practitioner gathers a vast amount of focus into their mind, prepared to end the lives of those before him. Then, once the user has unsheathed his blade and focused his chakra into his body, the user then lunges forward rapidly, initiating a sequence of up to ten rapid, but precise attacks. The user and his blade moves like a storm, flashing from one attack to the next relentlessly, the opponents being unable to trace one indistinguishable attack from the next.[break][break] Defensive [break] Iaijutsu (Art of Mental Presence)[break] Rank: D[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Supplementary[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Low to cast and sustain[break] A defensive nature of fighting, all Iaijutsu practitioners will tend to stand in closed positions, sending chakra throughout their bodies to quicken response times. this leaves little openings and makes sure to make the least amount of wasted movement possible so as to remain solid like a rock. Once the swordsman has understood the basics of fortification, they move on to more complex defensive patterns. [break][break] Kawasu (To Parry)[break] Rank: D[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Low[break] Commencing from any position, the practitioner draws their sword and moves to deflect or simply block the strike, then resheathes. As the user becomes more proficient in Iaijutsu, more strikes can be defending against in a fluid movement, before they are overwhelmed by the attacks. This technique serves as a counter against multi-strike based techniques. A maximum of three techniques can be parried per use at an incredibly fast, almost "simultaneous" rate. It should be noted that these parries must be plausible, and simply because a user can defend relatively quick does not mean the are immune to being struck. As state, this will be widely considered as a multi-strike counter.[break][break] Sorasu (Deflect)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid With great ocular prowess (vision), the user has mastered the art of defense. By drawing their blade at the correct timing, the user strikes at incoming projectile weapons (such as Kunai, Shuriken, and Senbon.) With great precision the user is capable of drawing back the projectiles and directing their sword or blade in a manner in which they send them rocketing back at the original owner. (max of three).[break][break] Sorasu - Yūrei (Deflect - Ghost)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] After much practice and training, the user has learned control over their strength and focus that they are able to deflect back projectiles and other thrown items that would otherwise detonate on impact without them detonating.[break][break] Sorasu - Hane (Deflect - Feather)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Stamina Consumption: High[break] Applying great strength and chakra control to Sorasu, the user is able to deflect larger projectiles, such as Giant or Fuma Shuriken.[break][break] Rasen Karasu-Zuki (Spiral Parry Thrust)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid[break] Commencing from any position, the practitioner proceeds to unsheathe their blade and quickly strike down an incoming projectile, either slicing it in half or redirecting its path away from the user. Useful when faced with opponents that prefer to strike from a distance, as long as the user is able to spot the incoming threat in time. Once the user becomes more proficient at judging the distance, speed and direction of projectiles, they will be able to cut down even more projectiles in a fluid movement.[break][break] Note: Up to 15 projectiles can be parried per use.[break] Ridairekuto (Redirect)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid Commencing from any position, the practitioner proceeds to unsheathe their blade and quickly strike against an incoming physical attack. But, instead of simply blocking it, the user will instead use the opponents momentum against them, which in turn forces them off balance and leaves them vulnerable to a strike afterwards. While off balance, the opponent will be unable to perform actions involving high amounts of dexterity, due to the surprise of being knocked off center.[break][break] Note: Once parried, the opponent is left off balance and unable to find their footing for half a turn.[break][break] Sumasshu (Smash and Defend)[break] Rank: C[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: Mid Commencing from any position, the practitioner strikes with the hilt at a frontal opponent's face, forcing him to stumble back, which allows them to follow up with a quick slash or cut. Following the mindset of 'the best defense is a great offense', the user will seek to stop an opponent from throwing an attack out in the first place, leaving them on the defensive and unable to fully utilize their offense.[break][break] Busoukaijo (Disarmament)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: High[break] Commencing from any position, the practitioner strikes with the hilt or blade at the opponent's wrist, mid-strike or not, forcing them to drop any item or weapon they are holding, then the user sheathes. This method is used to prevent the user from becoming overwhelmed by a stronger foe, or to simply provide the opportunity for a successful follow-up attack.[break] Note: This technique will automatically cause the victim to let go of their weapon if struck.[break][break] Shisukate (Defending with the Sheath)[break] Rank: B[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals:[break] Stamina Consumption: High[break] Commencing from any position, the practitioner holds the blade within the sheath, gathering themselves for a mere moment before preparing to stop an incoming attack. Once the attack is nanoseconds from making contact, the user quickly raises their sheath from it's held position, halting the attack in it's path due to the combined defense of the sword, sheath, and strength combined with it. This prevents the user from being overwhelmed by potential one-hit knockout techniques. [break][break] Shoushitsuten (Vanishing Point)[break] Rank: A[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: x2 High[break] One of Kenjutsu's ultimate defensive maneuvers, this technique relies on brute strength and rapid movement to evade an attack, instead of using their sword. Commencing from any position, the practitioner uses his advanced training and experience with defending, dodging, and countering to seemingly avoid a strike at an incredibly fast speed, allowing them to slip up close to the opponent. The speed at which the user moves is staggering and, when coupled against an opponents strike, allows them to get up close, their sword unsheathed and ready to deliver their own blow.[break][break] Tsukeme (To Aim at a Weak Point)[break] Rank: A[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: x2 High[break] Commencing from any position, the practitioner holds the blade within the sheath. Once the user has foreseen an incoming assault, they focus their chakra within their arms in order to utilize a great deal of physical strength. When the attack is within the range of their technique, the user will rapidly withdraw the weapon from the sheathe, cutting at the air in the direction of the incoming attack. The sheer force of the attack will send a cutting shockwave the thickness of the sword and attempt to slice apart the attack. Once cut in half, the attack will veer off course and leave the user, who was in the center location of the cut, unscathed. Useful against Ninjutsu, this allows the Iaijutsu practitioner to defend against attacks they usually would not be able to, as the cutting swath the technique extends allows it to slice through fireballs and other such constructs, though clever usage is recommended to avoid being overwhelmed.[break][break] Note: The cutting shockwave is 10 meters in length.[break][break] Hitosashi Tenrai (Dance of the Wind)[break] Rank: S[break] Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)[break] Type: Defensive[break] Handseals: --[break] Stamina Consumption: 2x High per block Undoubtedly, the ultimate defense maneuver of the Iaijutsu collection. Commencing from any position, the practitioner focuses all of mind and body simultaneously, allowing his chakra to surge through their body. Due to the elite reflexive training of the Kenjutsu style, the user becomes like a moving blur, becoming 'one with the wind' as they evade incoming attacks, either through dodging, blocking, or parrying. So long as the user is aware that the opponent is nearby, they can continue to block the attacks and strikes through their freakish reflexes and skill. The immense chakra drain forces the technique to only be capable of being active for a limited amount of time, so the user must use the technique wisely. Thought of as the antithesis of 'Kagirinai Hagane Hitosashi', the two techniques have been known to completely counteract each other, leaving behind an amazing spectacle of sparks and sword clashes.[break][break] Note: This allows the user to defend with agility and reflexes comparable to the x3 the speed of your average shinobi. One Day at a time

Prelude -
When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?
