When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?
06/01/2023 June is for Juggin
We made it y’all, another month of OTA, and fresh off the press we have another promotion ready. Leaving behind the opening bonus sadly, we welcome the jugggggg! June is for juggin AKA working hard, so we are making it a double rewards month for every mission completed! Yes we said it's double rewards, now you all can really get into the thick of those builds if you work hard enough. And who knows what you might uncover in the process. AND all jobs are free to enroll no quest EXCEPT ANBU(Black Ops) roles.
The ANBU, meaning "dark side" is actually short for Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai (literally Assassination Tactics Special Military Force). The ANBU work directly under the leadership of the Kage, and act as their personal attack and defense force. This specialized ninja battalion generally work in groups of four to five. They are responsible for assassinations and missions requiring highly trained ninjas. The masks the members wear are based around the signs of the zodiac!
Upon taking this profession, ANBU gain the tactical bag - each ANBU gets a special bag they can upgrade throughout their time in their profession. This bag holds a superfluous amount of materials. The bag will come with 5 slots, that have a capacity of 50 for whatever said item.
II. RESTRICTIONS
1. The ANBU profession is only available to shinobi of Chuunin rank or higher.
2. Becoming an ANBU requires nothing more than your Kage's permission. On the contrary, if they are not completely sold on your skills, they reserve the right to test you with a Kage Issued event. This event must be interactive and involve foreign shinobi, whether it's as simple as infiltrating a foreign village and stealing a item without getting caught, or assassinating another country's leader.
ANBU - MASTERIES.
I. ADVANCED TRAINING, CLEVER CONCEALMENT
For a Low per turn cost, the ANBU and the area immediately around them (within one meter) will alter to provide them with better cover. For example, in a darkened area the shadows will seem to converge on and around the ANBU, further hiding him from sight. In a forested area, the technique would discolor the user to better blend them in with the surroundings, as well as altering the plants in the area to better shield them.
Furthermore, this mastery allows the ANBU to perform Shunshin no Jutsu effectively without the need for a significant distraction by adding an additional Low to the original Shunshin cost (i.e. Mid per Shunshin). Trivial things such as a gust of wind carrying a handful of leaves, or simply not paying attention for a brief instant are enough for the ANBU to work with. However if the opponent is looking at the ANBU, or their knowledge of their location is unhindered, they will still recognize their movement.
II. ADVANCED TRAINING, SLEIGHT OF HAND
ANBU with this level of training have utilized their jutsu so often, their handseals seem to form out of instinct. Due to this kinesthetic adaptation, the ANBU forms handseals at a significantly faster rate than their counterparts. This translates to a two seal reduction to one tree of techniques in their arsenal. This ability may also stack with any other handseal reducing masteries the user may possess but, because it must be paired with a specific skillset, this ability cannot supplement Kinjutsu.
The selected tree must be noted somewhere in the user's profile or else a BM must automatically assume that you have not selected one (voiding this mastery until it is clearly stated).
III. ADVANCED TRAINING, CHAKRA DETECTION
Having reached the pinnacle of general shinobi prowess, ANBU of this caliber are said to noticeably outperform their counterparts. They are the recognizable difference between advanced ninja and elite shinobi. These men and women can detect and distinguish between different chakra signatures within twenty meters of their person, feeling them as varying pressures that allow them to quickly gauge the strength of those around them.
This ability does not locate those hidden from the ANBU or differentiate between chakra natures, but rather notifies them that they are in the area. However, ANBU with knowledge of Kagura Shingan can now perform the technique with their eyes open and without handseals (though the chakra cost to do so still applies).
anbu - PERKS.
I. BODYGUARD
Operating directly beneath the Kage, ANBU are considered a village's elite sect of shinobi. Because of this, they possess authority over all lesser ranks of ninja (including Hunter Corps), making them vital assets during times of chaos and or confusion.
Their function extends well beyond this, however. While they are used as a village's policing force, they also serve the village's needs for high-profile assassinations on foreign soil. Victims of these assassinations vary, all the way from troublesome Jounin to Kages and even Daimyo. They are also used to stir and incite revolutions in small territories for governmental reasons, such as usurping a current ruler for the village to seat someone more to their tastes.
And while these missions are incredibly rare, they do happen. Successfully completing them yields a wealth of rewards for the participating members, including EXP and ryo:
Assignments of the Kage: Being the right arm of their Kage, ANBU are the only shinobi eligible for high-profile Kage Missions. These are given directly from their user, and are generally very delicate in the sense that failure is not an option. On top of standard mission rewards (correlating to the universal system), successfully completing a Kage Mission will yield a bonus 2'000 EXP and 30'000 ryo.
It should be noted that Kage Missions must be interactive missions, involving another village. Likewise, Kage Mission assassinations can only be issued on other player characters; on the contrary, these assassinations can be issued on players of the same village.
Shield and Sword: ANBU are the first line of defense and the executioners of any who dare oppose their village. In any event that their village is under attack, and the ANBU participates (and survives), they will receive a 1'000 EXP and 5'000 ryo reward. This bonus stacks per player kill that the ANBU achieves, for a maximum of 10'000 EXP and 50'000 ryo.
II. EQUIPMENT
ANBU Armor Rank: B Type: Head | Torso | Arms | Legs Limit: ANBU. Cost 80,000 Ryo per set; 20,000 Ryo per piece The official ANBU armor worn by all on-duty ANBU agents. Protection the agents identity and health while keeping them versatile, this piece of armor certainly isn't one to be overindulgent.
ANBU BINGO Rank: B Type: Special Job Accessory / Self Cost: 10,000 ryo A staple item of ANBU, this book contains info of those of their own country. Best of all, with new technology, micro-seals placed within the text of the book allows pockets of chakra to release information in real time, a device utilizing the power of space-time ninjutsu and one designed by very talented Craftsmen.
Note: This BINGO book contains information on village specific targets. In order to update the book, one must be still and hold a single seal while spending a 'High' amount of chakra in order to "download" the information (lol). It takes one turn per new BINGO book entry acquired. Though book comes preloaded with certain targets, once purchased, it is up to the ANBU to update.
ANBU - TECHNIQUES
NINjutsu
Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu (Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: 1 Chakra Consumption: Mid Magen • Narakumi no Jutsu is a specialized Genjutsu technique utilized by ANBU to instill fear into their targets, either for combat or interrogation. The illusion is so strong that it essentially causes its target to see a horrifying vision. The ANBU will use the serpent hand seal to cause a circle of leaves or any loose particles nearby to spin and envelop the target and then fall away. Once cast the world will appear normal to the target until they see the illusion.
Note: The user must have the Inton (Genjutsu) release in order to use this technique. Likewise, the target must be within eyesight of the caster.
Shoukyo Shigai no Jutsu (Body Elimination Technique) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: High + the user's remaining chakra. Knowing full well that a shinobi's corpse is essentially a treasure trove of information, this technique is used by ANBU to completely destroy their body if caught or on the verge of death. This technique leaves no trace of the user's body behind whatsoever.
The user will become surrounded by a visible pyre of chakra that will deal severe caustic burns to anyone who touches it (equivalent to third degree burn).
Note: This technique can only be used upon oneself and will effectively kill the user after being used. The pyre is more an external safeguard, with the decimation process beginning from within. It will target organs and the chakra circulatory network first while the remaining portions are devoured by the visible chakra. It takes one full post to completely disintegrate the ANBU.
Meisenkou (Bright Flash) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid By supplementing their blade with chakra, the user may attract light from the surrounding area onto a metal weapon to shine at their enemies. The light has a similar intensity to a flash bomb, allowing it to blind a target, though past mid-range it becomes ineffective.
Note: This can only be used in areas with clear and pervasive lighting, meaning it is ineffective in areas obstructed by fog or mist. The ANBU may also use the moon's light to execute this technique if accessible. The user must possess Hein to access this ability. Requires a one post cooldown after every use.
Jigyakkou no Jutsu (Time Regression Technique) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 4 Chakra Consumption: High to cast, Low to sustain One of the more advanced and non-combative ANBU techniques, Jigyakkou no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique used by the ANBU to pull out forgotten memories. After forming the needed hand seals, the ANBU will put the target into a forced trance. After counting back to the day they wish to learn about, they will ask the target to remember incidents they have since forgotten. This allows the ANBU to gather intel that would other be inaccessible.
Note: The user must maintain constant visual on the target, and stay within a meter of their person in order to facilitate this technique. Likewise, the target cannot be in the middle of moving or so when this technique is employed.
Jinsei Tate (Life Shield) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: 4 Chakra Consumption: High to cast, Low-High to maintain. The ANBU comes to the aid of someone in danger by erecting a sturdy, barely visible shield of chakra in front of them to guard from an attack. This blocks all overview weapon strikes and jutsu that use equal or less than a High worth of chakra.
At the site of contact, the field will noticeably ripple in an octagonal pattern.
Note: After sustaining an attack, the ANBU has the option to leave the Life Shield as it is or replenish it's strength by sacrificing chakra (equal to the last attack). Any technique fueled by more than one High will destroy this shield but the original damage will be mitigated depending on the original technique's strength. This means that the damage potential of an attack using x2 High will be reduced by one high, or 50% Likewise, this technique would only absorb 25% of an attack using 1 Massive.
Shinkei Zoufuku no Jutsu (Nerve Sensitivity Amplification) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive, Supplementary Handseals: 9 Chakra Consumption: x2 High to cast, x2 Mid to maintain. An advanced torture technique of the ANBU, this causes the sensitivity of the target's nerves to doubly increase, so that the slightest prick of a needle can be likened to having your arm pierced with a javelin. Used primarily to physically break captives, the effect lasts for as long as the user can sustain it's tax. Given enough time, this technique can break the will of almost any shinobi.
Note: This technique can be used in combat. The ANBU must touch their target for the technique to take effect, but they do not have to maintain contact. If contact with the target is broken, the technique will wear off after three of the victim's turns. If the ANBU keeps their hand on the captive, they will be drained continually if they choose to maintain the technique.
Ni no Dan (Second Step) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low to cast and sustain. The user spins around at high-speeds, appearing like a small twister. Under the twister's guise, they will launch a large barrage of secondary weapons at one or several targets simultaneously. The point of the spin is to disguise the ANBU's intent.
Kawara Shuriken (Roof Tile Shuriken) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: 5 Chakra Consumption: Mid to cast and sustain. This technique allows the ANBU to remotely control, levitate and hurl spinning tiles within their range. In addition to being able to control the tiles remotely, they are able to pressurize them with chakra to make them far stronger than normal.
Note: Tiles will have the strength of standard shuriken, and up to ten roof tiles can maintained at a time.
Happa Fusen no Jutsu (Explosive Tag Technique) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: 4 Chakra Consumption: Low per pack. The user will summon an array of exploding tags that stream towards the target, before wrapping themselves around the victim from the feet upwards. Once in place around the target's legs, the user can either detonate the tags remotely via Fuubaku Houjin or allow them to time release in an enormous explosion.
Note: Must possess Kushiyose no Jutsu and Fuubaku Houjin. All of the combined jutsu's chakra cost will apply. Exploding tags travel at normal shinobi speed (x1).
Kanashibari no Jutsu (Temporary Body Paralysis Technique) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: High One of the most basic yet deadly jutsu available to ANBU, Kanashibari no Jutsu is an advanced Ninjutsu technique used to temporarily bind an individual in place. After a single seal is formed, the user must make be able to see the target they wish to bind; if eye contact with one another is establish, the bind is instant. Otherwise, the ANBU will struggle to take over the opponent's chakra with their own. With the person frozen in place, the ninja can either take the opportunity to attack or to retreat.
Note: The user must maintain visual on the target for two posts after this technique has been cast in order for it to take effect. Once paralyzed, the victim will be immobile for a maximum of three posts.
