When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

☆ Name: Cat Scratch Fever Rank: D Repeatable: Yes Description: Little Ayane has gone missing yet again. Lady Haruni can't seem to keep her in one place. Normally this would be considered important. However Ayane isn't a child, but rather, a cat that likes to run away from time to time and venture the village. Objective: Catch Ayane and bring her back to the client. Reward: 100 EXP and 10,000Ryo
The day was young, and Xio found himself immersed in the vibrant village of Kumogakure, searching for Lady Haruni's residence. As he meandered through the bustling streets, he couldn't help but ponder the enigma of people's fondness for cats.
"Why do people keep cats anyway?"
He wondered silently. The city carried on with its usual rhythm, seemingly oblivious to his musings.Xio's keen eye led him to a small blue house nestled atop a nearby hill. Filled with determination, he hastened his pace, climbing the incline until he reached the front door. With a firm knock, he awaited a response.
After a brief moment, a woman with flowing pink hair answered the door, her eyes welling with tears. The sight caught Xio off guard, causing him to instinctively take a step back. Hastily, the woman stepped outside and tightly embraced the genin, her tears flowing freely as she began to explain her predicament.
"Please, you must help me find my beloved cat, Ayane. She is incredibly dear to me, my only true companion," she pleaded frantically.
Xio stood frozen, unsure of how to proceed in the face of such emotional distress. After a brief pause, he mustered a response, his voice filled with genuine concern.
"Of course, I will do my best to find Ayane. Can you tell me which way she went?" he asked earnestly.
The woman, now composed but still visibly distraught, released her grip on the young ninja, taking a step back. She pointed in the direction of the woods behind her house, her voice trembling with worry.
"She ran off into the woods! Please, you must find her!" she implored, her plea echoing in Xio's ears.
With a nod of understanding, Xio took a few steps back, his resolve firm. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards the dense woods behind the woman's home, determined to reunite her with her cherished feline companion.
Xio sprinted toward the woods, desperately searching for her lost cat. As he entered the dense forest, he skillfully maneuvered past swaying branches, completely enveloped by the lush foliage. The hunt for the elusive feline had commenced. Without any clear guidance, Xio relied on his instincts and experience to track down the mischievous creature. Cats weren't known for their complexity, so he trusted his judgment to guide him through the forest.
With unwavering focus, he scanned the ground for any traces left behind. After some time, his sharp eyes spotted a set of unmistakable footprints. Kneeling down, he carefully examined them and confirmed,
"These are definitely cat tracks."
Standing up to his full height, he glanced into the distance and noticed a trail of feline footprints, each one skipping a few feet at a time. Intrigued, he embarked on a journey following the path they had woven.
Continuing his pursuit, he stumbled upon a second set of footprints, slightly larger in size. His heart skipped a beat as he realized,
"Oh no, these look like tiger tracks."
Despite the potential danger, Xio pressed on, determined to uncover the reason behind the cat's frantic escape. With every step, the evidence became clearer: the cat was fleeing from something, but what could it be?
Undeterred, he persisted along the trail until a magnificent sight emerged in the distance—a colossal cat furiously clawing at a tree.
"I think I've found my cat, or rather, cats,"
he thought to himself, his excitement mounting. Drawing upon his honed shinobi skills, he assessed the mountain lion before him, recognizing it as no formidable opponent. Swiftly closing the distance, he propelled himself into a powerful kick. The cat's realization of the impending danger came too late as it was sent hurtling through the forest, bones cracking under the impact.
"Now who's the hunter?"
Xio triumphantly declared, a satisfied smile stretching across his face. Observing the wounded cat flee into the distance, he knew it wouldn't be returning anytime soon. His attention redirected to the cat perched in the tree above, peering down with an expression of profound despair, as if its life hung in the balance.
"Damn cats," he muttered under his breath, a mixture of frustration and sympathy coloring his words.
Looking the cat directly in its eyes Xio could tell he was getting himself into a little bit of hassle by the way it stared back. But what this cat didn’t know was he was a special kinda of shinobi, this cats natural ability to be agile would serve no advantage here. Activating his Sharingan the Kami would lock in on his prey, making the first move he would reach in the bag throwing a kunai in the direction of the cat while watching for the slightest muscle tension.
“Got you.”
As the cats body tensed up Xio could read which direction it was going to be jumping in, using his foresight to his advantage he would shoot off into the air meeting the cat at the half way point of the tree it was trying to jump to. The genin would catch the cat like a large ball before cradling it in his arms and landing on the ground causing a little bit of dust to rise. The cat looked up to him in shock as it thought it wouldn’t be caught especially by a human. Xio would apply a little bit of Genjutsu putting the cat to sleep to ensure his trip back to the woman would swift.
“alright lets go.”
Xio would take off running in the direction he came from it wouldn’t take long for him to back track his path out the forest. After a little while Xio found himself on the doorstep of lady Ayane.
Alright, little kitty let’s get you home. He would say before the door swung open in front of him, surprised his eyes widen, ait was Ayane. She would snatch the cat from his eyes while screaming.
“Thank you Xio, Thank you, My baby is home!”
The lady would scream as the genin nodded, it was clear his mission was done and this lady could enjoy her cat from this point.
“I wonder what was so special about that cat.”
he would say as he turned and walked away from lady Ayane home.
