When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

Itada stood at the coastline to the river, his eyes shifting from the filth of the muddled, blood-stained waters in front of him, to the area surrounding. From his estimate, the plot of land he stood on was not very large, about 10m or so, symmetrical to the land opposite, and so he opted to follow the path laid out before him by the canal.
The temperature of the area was a drastic change from the cool and misty habitats of the Land of Water.
“Damn.. it’s hot here”, he thought as his feet carried him further in the direction the river pointed. He may have been overdressed, as he had all of his usual attire wit’s him— loose-fitted clothes, tactful shinobi boots, and his hooded cloak, both painted black as a midnight sky.
His two(2) katana were both strapped horizontally across his back, and all shinobi tools and secondary weapons were tucked comfortably in their places; a pack of shuriken, kunai, senbon, exploding notes, a breath mask, and air plugs.
In relation to the heat, it did not bother him much yet. He was far experienced with high temperatures through his study of usage of fire style ninjutsu.
He paused at the edge before the land morphed into the vast expanse of water in front. He cursed himself for forgetting his binoculars, but it mattered little. From where he stood he could see structures in the distance, which hopefully mean people, or someone who could tell him something.
Where was he?
He looked at the waters for a moment, then at the land across from it. It didn’t seem that far, and by his estimate, he could reach the other side in about 12 seconds or so.
Chakra focused to the bottom of his feet(-1 low) as he stepped onto the water — he’d walk a few steps, testing it, before breaking out into a full sprint toward the land on the other side.
He kept his eyes peeled, ever analyzing his surroundings, intent on not getting caught off guard by anything that lurked beneath the surface of the crimson waters.
Hopefully, there was nothing he needed worry about.

Always Forward... Forward Always...
With determination and instinctual training guiding you forward, the trek along the crimson body of water came without any immediate interruption. With each stride you drew closer and close, able to advance 15 meters in distance before the crimson waters beneath you came to a boiling point.
Every few moments across the entire expanse bubbles filled and popped, flinging about steaming drops of liquid. Suddenly without warn, you were stopped dead in your tracks by an old, decrepit hand that grabbed and latched onto your left ankle.
Despite the appearance of aged skin covered in scares and peeling flesh, an iron grip left you momentarily immobile. In the next moment hundreds of other hands emerged from beneath the bloody abyss.
However, upon examination of the area, 10 meters directly northbound, a head slowly emerged from the center of it all, untouched and untainted. With black hair flowing from the head, the figure only surfaced enough to reveal a pair of eyes and the bridge of a nose.
Within said eyes, an intricate pattern formed, patterns that the uchiha would've known full well. Peacefully and unbothered by the chaos that ensued, they watched intently, curious to see how you'd react...

Intense training and years of traversing the lands of Mizu had the Uchiha familiar with the nature of water, and coupled with his knowledge in ninjutsu, was able to maneuver efficiently atop its depths. It was near impossible to tell how deep the water went, and with the color being what it was, made it equally difficult to see under the surface.
Each step was fueled with chakra, and as he continued he could feel the water heating up the further out he went. His eyes scanned the horizon as he continued forward, the water heating to the point that it now splashed violently and without warning randomly across the body of water, he himself having to shift his momentum to the left in order to avoid one.
He felt the heat as the splash of water nearly touched his face. Without a moment of relief, the Uchiha felt something grab his left ankle. It did not hurt, but its grip was strong and ironlike, so much that it stopped Itada from moving.
From the moment he realized this, the Uchiha did not hesitate; in one swift motion, he had both looked at what it was that had latched onto his leg, unsheathed one katana from his back with his right hand, and aimed to separate grip(hand) from whatever it was that supported it. The steel of his blade was sharp; although the hand had an intense grip, it appeared to be made of flesh, and so the Uchiha assumed it would slice right through.
As Itada freed himself, the sight of hundreds of other hands rising from the water filled his vision. His eyes danced from left to right as he planned his next move; he noted the arms, the heat, the splashing, and just as he was about to take off once again .. he saw it.
{Spoiler}]10 meters directly northbound, a head slowly emerged from the center of it all, untouched and untainted. With black hair flowing from the head, the figure only surfaced enough to reveal a pair of eyes and the bridge of a nose. Within said eyes, an intricate pattern formed, patterns that the uchiha would've known full well.
The Uchiha’s eyes narrowed at the sight.
“Sharingan?”, he spoke below his breath as his left arm ruffled beneath his cloak.
It couldn’t be…
