When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

BIRTH NAME, kurome (black eyes) TITLE, zesshi zetsumei (end of life, end of death). AGE & SEX, 19 & female. VOICE, rie tanaka. HEIGHT & WEIGHT, • five feet & two inches. • ninety-nine pounds.
PHYSIQUE, • Kurome is a woman of rather short stature, only reaching up as high as five feet and two inches. She is incredibly lean, and slender with a cream skin tone. Despite the fact that she is an overall diminutive stature, she has incredibly powerful leg muscles and tone. Her head is covered in a short mop of dirty blond hair, often displayed in layers with the front portion stopping around her thin, low arched eyebrows. The rest of it continues down to the back of her neck. Her eyes are a light, almost honey, shade of brown. Her eyelashes are short and thin, and her nose soft, smooth, and petite. One of her most outstanding features are her lips, incredibly plump and naturally pink they are considered by many to be irresistible.
She can often be found wearing a plain, white dress shirt with a blue sweater, with pink lines around the collar, over top complete with a pink tie often tucked under the sweater. Underneath she wears a pink skirt with white stripes throughout. Her footwear is the standard tabi along with knee-length socks. Her headband can be found wrapped around her neck. She can be found with a headband equipped with two tiger ears. When in battle she trades in for a simplistic green tracksuit, with a black leotard underneath.
PERSONA• Kurome is blunt to the point of hurting feelings without intending to. She believes that it's best to say what one is thinking rather than shirking away and beating around the bush. Though she knows that sometimes she can cross a line she'd much rather remain the same than be someone who says one thing and thinks something completely different. She has to be true to herself and her ideals, and if someone has a problem with it then that's their problem.
• She only calls things as she sees them, and if someone shows them something else then she will change her mind as she's not stubbornly set in her conceptions. Kurome is only human and she knows that she can't always be right. Even though she lacks the ability to read a room, sometimes it is obvious even to her and, though she won't make up false praises, she can use her blunt honesty as a force for good, as well.
• One of her worst traits is her competitive nature, which makes her take any form of competition incredibly serious. The drive within her is the worst kind, making her elated when she wins and angry or gloomy when she loses. Growing up having to compete for love made her take everything seriously, and so she tries to avoid it. Kurome believes that if she doesn't compete she doesn't have to get in the 'mode' that she does. She's thought about digging deeper into the 'why', however she's much more concerned with dealing with the effect.
• When all hell breaks loose and the average lemmings are running around screaming, Kurome is one of the few people who are able to remain calm and collected throughout the affair. The one time her indecisive nature comes in use, it allows her a moment to collect her options without letting panic affect her mind and cause her to lose track of what's important. Once she's presented herself with options, she's able to remove the ones with the least probability and success and move from there.
Kurome was born to Nui and Kaze, who were madly in love and incredibly happy to have the child. She was the first of four children, each one blessed with some combination of their parents DNA. The two couldn't have been more different: Kaze liked the outdoors while Nui preferred to stay inside and read a nice book. Kaze abhorred the winter while Nui reveled in it. They say that opposites attract and that was most certainly the case with them.
Even their fighting styles couldn't have been more different. Kaze carried the blood of the Izuno, which allowed him and those who had his blood to mimic the fighting style and characteristics of cats. Her father was well known but not nearly as much as her mother who had been known as the woman who both ended and saved hundreds of lives. Her medical expertise ended up giving her incredible renown.
Kurome and her siblings had divided and attained various proficiency in one, or both, of their parental traits. Uniquely divided, their parents had no favorites and were happy to see pieces of themselves distributed among their spawn. They taught their children the basics of their respective ninjutsu and encouraged her to learn and absorb what they had to offer, but also to find something that lit a passion within them as well. It was in this way that she fell in love with archery and was enchanted by the fact that all of her merits with it were solely her own.
They were supportive of their family in whatever endeavor they decided to pursue and she attended academy with many talented people, being noteworthy herself. Among these people was the incredibly talented Xio Kami, known for both his looks and skills. Becoming a Genin was easy enough, and only served to stoke her dreams. She wanted to become strong, much like her mother, and become a kunoichi that was known to the world throughout. She wanted younger kids to want to be her, an inspiration to all. The Izuno clan was a powerful, but relatively unknown clan and she would change that - as a byproduct. Fame and fortune had to come first, she would become a shinobi indispensable to Kumogakure!
Striking out immediately, she took up a mission to defeat a paranoid Hyuga man who had kidnapped several women and threatened their execution, wary of their potential. Personally taking offense at the nature of the crimes, she took the mission on and flew into action. Choosing to wait until night, as he would be much too wary during the day, she dutifully took down each of his guards before moving in on him. She initially fell into his own trap, having accidentally woken him up, before luring him into his death and rescuing his hostages.
During a period of rest, she went hiking in the woods and was caught off guard by an angry bear in the woods. Getting help from an unexpected source in the form of her childhood friend Xio, they fought off the bears safely.
Next she helped out a member of the Nekojin clan, a distant cousin to their own, due to the sense of kinship. The woman, Natare, was someone who had no confidence nor self worth. Though the mission was for her to help the younger woman find a special catnip critical to their clans Hijutsu, she took it on as a secondary mission to help Natare out too. They searched high and low, mostly to no avail, before getting into a spat. Working through things, Kurome helped the woman grow and retrieve the catnip before heading their separate ways.
Seeking to improve her own skills, Kurome decided she would venture out to the land of Hi no Kuni in search of a master archer said to reside in the Floral Coast. Stopping in Shimo no Kuni she found a delightful inn, and a superb hotspring over in Yu no Kuni. Heading toward Ta no Kuni she was ambushed and captured, before narrowly escaping and making her way to Hi no Kuni.
HIDDEN VILLAGE, • kumogakure no sato (hidden leaf village).
1. Tier One - MASTER MIMIC: One of the biggest weaknesses this clan faces is the need to unravel the scroll before doing the necessary seals, all taking quite a bit of time. With this mastery in hand, they need only perform the handseals then slide their hand over the unopened scroll, either in a holster or in another hand. Can't be used inside of a bag, or anything alike. In addition, the user is able to communicate with and gain the assistance of any ninneko in their immediate area.
Cat Surprise (Nekodamashi) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low
With their razor sharp claws, the Izuno clan member will dig at the ground rapidly tear at the ground and kick up a dust storm to obscure themselves. The user can then set up traps, aid an ally, etc. while they are temporarily hidden.
Note: The cloud persists for one full turn, and the cloud has dimensions of 5x5x5. Any Futon ninjutsu instantly clears the cloud.
Giving Ryo to a Cat (Nekoni Ryo) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x1 Mid, x1 High (Optional)
Many people wonder why the Izuno clan's cloak copies the tail of a cat, what use could it possibly have? Falling is a sure way to kill many people, who are unable to do anything to soften their fall and just drop helplessly. While any Cat Cloak is active, the user can negate any fall damage and allow their tail to flip their body in order to land perfectly on all fours. Even if they fell from the heavens, a cat would never allow themselves to land so disgracefully.
Note: The maximum height they can drop from without breaking bones is 50 meters. By paying an additional High cost, they can extend their range and survive a fall from up to 100 meters but in a critical state.
Ninja Art: Cat Covering Technique (Ninpo: Nekokaburi no Jutsu) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 2 Chakra Consumption: x1 Mid to cast & sustain, x1 Low to switch
The technique is usually kept in a sealing scroll that the user may access one of many different species of cats (i.e. Persian, Siamese, Tortoiseshell). After weaving the required hand signs necessary to unseal the technique, the user becomes enveloped in a partial cloak of coloured chakra that gives the user the selected cat's abilities. Every cloak will give them ears and a tail as well as turn their nails into claws.
Note: Stray Tabby gifts the user with a green shroud when forming their cat ears and tail as well as gifting the user a +1 boost to their strength. Siamese cats form a blue shroud and give the user enhanced sight, and clarity at night, and hearing within a 25 meter area around themselves. Tortoiseshell cats give the user a white shroud and a +1 to their already noteworthy speed. Users can only use Izuno clan techniques while enshrouded.
Bakeneko (Monster Cat) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x1 High
One of the most powerful assets that a cat has in its repertoire are their incredibly powerful legs, useful for chasing prey and setting up their most successful and time honored method of attacking. Storing strength into their legs, the Izuno clan member will leap toward their opponent in an attempt to land on top of them to utilize the momentum to bring them to the ground and attack them at a close range. This technique is useful for closing distances, as well.
Note: When using this technique, the users base stats are taken into consideration and given a +1 boost to strength and speed.
Danger Close Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Stamina Consumption: Low
While Danger Close is arguably the most simplistic of all the Watcher techniques, that does not mean that it is the weakest. To the contrary, it is actually one of the most useful techniques an archer can have, as its primary function is to defend oneself against close-range fighters, the natural bane of all archers. After repeating the same nock and fire motions hundreds, if not thousands of times, an archer possesses the ability to briefly move purely through reflex and instinct, firing off a hastily aimed shot twice as fast as normal.
Note: The user nocks an arrow, aims, and fires one shot in half the time it normally takes them to do so. This ability can only be used once per thread.
Ricochet Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Stamina Consumption: Mid
A tricky technique that exemplifies how cunning an archer can be. By bouncing their arrows off the surface of an object, they undercut the opponent’s ability to defend against it, striking deep into the target when they least expect it.
Shotgun Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Stamina Consumption: Mid
The technique is one of the hallmarks of the Watcher style, firing more arrows than a normal person would believe is possible. It's been said that with proper mastery of the technique, the user can fire up to six at a time with all the ability they fire a normal one.
Sharpshooter Rank: C Range: - Type: Passive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low By firing an arrow in an arc instead of in a straight line, the user can “lob” an arrow, allowing it to travel further distances than normal. The downside to this art is that by curving the arrows trajectory, you are in fact adding more to the distance it needs to travel, thus increasing the amount of time it takes to actually reach the target.
Note: This ability effectively doubles the range of any single shot.
Kai (Release) Rank: D Range: - Type: Supplementary Handseals: 1 Chakra Consumption: Low Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the effect of the spell.
Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low
Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique - to an observer caught in the optical illusion, it appears as if the user has teleported. This allows the user to escape or attack suddenly, should they need to. However, while a high-speed movement, if used in broad daylight, one will still be quite visible and as such, easier to be defended against. In order to achieve maximum effect, the user must to combine it with a distraction.
Note: Despite popular belief, this is not an ability that allows an individual to teleport, or even move incomprehensibly fast. It simply combines high mobility with some disruption of visibility to conceal those movements. That in mind, if you can conceal your movement, it is common for this technique to allow very long-distance dashes before enemies may notice you.
Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Technique) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Low - Massive
A powerful jutsu intended to call forth aid when in dire need, Kuchiyose allows a ninja to summon a variety of entities and items meant to assist them in a dire situation. From people to animals, to inanimate objects such as weapons and items, these creations come forth out of thin air near-instantly after the seals are done and into the battlefield. Keep in mind each summoning in question requires a previous contract to be filled out. Finally, signing this contract also allows said summoning to be able to reverse summon the human ninja to their own location.
Note: All summons have their own chakra cost, which the user will need to meet in order to bring them forth. In terms of inanimate objects, the user can summon up to ten secondary weapons for a Low amount of chakra (per summoning); on the other hand, they may summon up to five primary weapons for a Mid amount of chakra (per summoning).
Kaiten Kakatou Otoshi (Spinning Heel Drop) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Stamina Consumption: Mid
A very basic but effective taijutsu attack, the Kaiten involves the user's leg in a reverse downward kick. After launching themselves into the air and begin to somersault, the user gains momentum within the chosen striking limb and come spinning down, laying their heels into the target's shoulders and head.
Note: If this kick connects with the opponent’s head, they will be stunned for one full turn.
Hayabusa Otoshi (Peregrine Falcon Drop) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Stamina Consumption: Mid
A very deadly and efficient taijutsu attack. While at an elevated position, the user will grab their opponent from behind. Firmly locking themselves to their back, the user will then lock their ankles onto the opponent's neck in order to get their body rigid. Finally, on the descent, the user proceeds to drive and plant the victim head first into the ground. Essentially a belly to back pile-driver, the move can provide a great concussion to his opponent's head.
Shishi Rendan (Lion Combo) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Stamina Consumption: Mid
An effective aerial attack, the user first begins to maneuver to their opponent in a vulnerable aerial position. While shadowing them, the user will attempt to strike them from a vulnerable angle. First, they will strike as a feint in order to draw their target's attention and defense to one area. Then, a true strike is made towards the most undefended area, preceded by several more until the user violently begins knocking them down and towards the ground. As the enemy falls back to the earth, the user will deftly rotate their body around to deliver a full force kick to their chest.
Note: The maximum amount of hits, not including the final heel drop, is five hits.
Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Replacement Technique) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 0 Chakra Consumption: Low Kawarimi no Jutsu is an Academy Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the user will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object - generally a block of wood, but sometimes even another person - the moment an attack lands. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. From this, the user can use the lapse in the enemy's attention to attack or flee from the battlefield. Explosvie tags can be attached to the placement for an added surprise!
Note: Switch is near-instantaneous. The technique can only be used once per turn.
Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Low, Low (upkeep) Henge no Jutsu is an Academy Ninjutsu technique. After performing a set of handseals, the user takes on the form of another object, whether it be an animal, plant, or inanime object. This transformation is exactly like the genuine article, so it is impossible to tell the two apart without special methods.
Note: The user can transform themself into an object of average, small, or miniature size. This means that one cannot Henge into a bijuu, summon, or other gigantic object.
Bunshin no Jutsu (Clone Technique) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Low (per clone) Bunshin no Jutsu is an Academy Ninjutsu technique. After performing a set of handseals, the user creates an intangible copy of themselves. This clone has no substance, so it is not able to attack, and thus can only be used to confuse the enemy. It is mainly used in combination with other ninjutsu. These clones can be easily distinguished by opponents with doujutsu, but even opponents with normals eyes can tell tell it apart from the original if they are observant, as the clone does not have a shadow and will not disrupt the area around themselves with their movement. As soon as this clone comes in contact with an opponent or gets attacked, it will disperse.
Note: The clone's movement speed is equal to the user's. Bunshin cannot mold chakra to perform jutsu, nor can they physically harm an opponent.
Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low, Low (upkeep) Kakuremino no Jutsu is an Academy Ninjutsu technique that allows the user to take a cloak or a piece of cloth and infuse it with their chakra, allowing them to blend into the background. This creates an optical illusion where the user is basically invisible to the naked eye.
Note: No other techniques can be used while disguised.
Nawanuke no Jutsu (Rope Escape Technique) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Chakra Consumption: - Handseals: Low Nawanuke no Jutsu is an Academy Ninjutsu technique. Should the user be tied up by normal ropes, they can exert a small amount of chakra to free their bindings and effectively escape. Note: Ineffective against complex, electronic, or unique binds.
Kinobori no Waza (Act of Tree Climbing) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low, Low (upkeep) Kinobori no Waza is an Academy Ninjtusu technique. By focusing a small amount of chakra to the bottom of their feet, the user can climb a tree (or other vertical wall) without utilizing their hands. This technique has a dual purpose, since it is the perfect way to increase skills with chakra control - if the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will loose their footing; if the stream is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the surface.
Suimen Hokou no Waza (Act of Water Surface Walking) Rank: E Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low, Low (upkeep) Suimen Hokou no Waza is an Academy Ninjutsu technique, and is a variant of Kinobori no Waza. By emitting a constant stream of chakra from the bottom of their feet and using this repellent force, the user is able to walk across the water's surface. This technique is vastly more difficult than its counterpart because the amount of chakra that needs to be focused changes constantly, but it helps to build chakra control in the user. After much practice, it is even possible to 'skate' across the water's surface instead of just walking or running.
Note: The user must know Kinobori no Waza in order to use this technique.
