When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

The Izuno clan is one that has developed a significant relationship with ninneko and have studied and researched them extensively. Like their cousins, the Inuzuka Clan, the Izuno were raised in Konohagakure no Sato. However, due to the several merits they had earned, the dog clan gained much more fame and notoriety and success while the Izuno were nearly forgotten. Not content with the way things were headed, they left the village on amiable terms and migrated to Kumogakure no Sato. Here, whether due to the lack of Inuzuka or simply being where they truly belonged, they flourished. Now, the Izuno and Inuzuka have maintained a, mostly, friendly rivalry almost like the Kamizuru and Aburame clans minus the hostility. Though they find themselves at odds, they can't help but to compete and argue about whether cats or dogs are the better companions.
Unlike the Inuzuka who are raised with a dog companion, or multiple depending on the user, the Izuno clan have a much different method of relying on felines. Instead of physically using ninneko, they have developed a method of storing their chakra into scrolls for later use. Once the clan member unleashes the chakra they are shrouded within it and can utilize the abilities of that cat. All of their techniques are based on a feral fighting style utilizing sharp nails and feline movements. Some have even whispered of the ability to summon forth a monster cat, boasting prodigious strength. The Izuno vary in the way they appear with some taking the extreme with cat-themed clothes and others try to downplay their cat-like nature. Whether it's chasing an enemy, beating them down, or tracking them down the Izuno are every bit as deadly as their cousins, maybe even more so.
Special Trait: Neko no Yōna (Catlike):
The Izuno spend their lives training their legs to be as powerful as a cat's hind legs. Whether they need to jump, kick, or plant their feet they've been consistently training them and have thus increased their natural moving speed by a tier. +1 Speed
Requirements:
1. This clan is only available to Taijustu Primaries.
2. Members of this family may only contract with Cat-related summons.
1. Tier One - MASTER MIMIC: One of the biggest weaknesses this clan faces is the need to unravel the scroll before doing the necessary seals, all taking quite a bit of time. With this mastery in hand, they need only perform the handseals then slide their hand over the unopened scroll, either in a holster or in another hand. Can't be used inside of a bag, or anything alike. In addition, the user is able to communicate with and gain the assistance of any ninneko in their immediate area.
2. Tier Two - FELINE FUNDAMENTALS: The Izuno clan thrives on their feral style of combat, slicing and chomping at their enemies until they submit or can no longer defend themselves. However, those who ascend to this mastery level are able to incorporate other taijutsu styles while still utilizing their Hiden jutsu. Additionally, all of the stat boosts given by the Cat Covering/Release are increased by +1 and the sensory abilities increased to 50 meters around them.
3. Tier Three - NEKOGAMI: The Izuno clansmen who have reached the apex of their Hijutsu are far and few between, though the assets they earned are well worth it. All of their Izuno clan techniques have their technique costs all reduced by x1 Mid. The cost reduction cannot exceed x1 Mid (meaning a x1 Mid jutsu is not free). In addition, the sustain cost for Cat Covering is removed.
JUTSU
Cat Surprise (Nekodamashi) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low With their razor sharp claws, the Izuno clan member will dig at the ground rapidly tear at the ground and kick up a dust storm to obscure themselves. The user can then set up traps, aid an ally, etc. while they are temporarily hidden.
Note: The cloud persists for one full turn, and the cloud has dimensions of 5x5x5. Any Futon ninjutsu instantly clears the cloud.
Giving Ryo to a Cat (Nekoni Ryo) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x1 Mid, x1 High (Optional)
Many people wonder why the Izuno clan's cloak copies the tail of a cat, what use could it possibly have? Falling is a sure way to kill many people, who are unable to do anything to soften their fall and just drop helplessly. While any Cat Cloak is active, the user can negate any fall damage and allow their tail to flip their body in order to land perfectly on all fours. Even if they fell from the heavens, a cat would never allow themselves to land so disgracefully.
Note: The maximum height they can drop from without breaking bones is 50 meters. By paying an additional High cost, they can extend their range and survive a fall from up to 100 meters but in a critical state.
Ninja Art: Cat Covering Technique (Ninpo: Nekokaburi no Jutsu) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 2 Chakra Consumption: x1 Mid to cast & sustain, x1 Low to switch The technique is usually kept in a sealing scroll that the user may access one of many different species of cats (i.e. Persian, Siamese, Tortoiseshell). After weaving the required hand signs necessary to unseal the technique, the user becomes enveloped in a partial cloak of coloured chakra that gives the user the selected cat's abilities. Every cloak will give them ears and a tail as well as turn their nails into claws.
Note: Stray Tabby gifts the user with a green shroud when forming their cat ears and tail as well as gifting the user a +1 boost to their strength. Siamese cats form a blue shroud and give the user enhanced sight, and clarity at night, and hearing within a 25 meter area around themselves. Tortoiseshell cats give the user a white shroud and a +1 to their already noteworthy speed.
Note: Users can only use Izuno clan techniques while enshrouded.
Bakeneko (Monster Cat) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x1 High
One of the most powerful assets that a cat has in its repertoire are their incredibly powerful legs, useful for chasing prey and setting up their most successful and time honored method of attacking. Storing strength into their legs, the Izuno clan member will leap toward their opponent in an attempt to land on top of them to utilize the momentum to bring them to the ground and attack them at a close range. This technique is useful for closing distances, as well.
Note: When using this technique, the users base stats are taken into consideration and given a +1 boost to strength and speed.
Ninja Art: Cat Covering Technique Release (Ninpo: Nekokaburi no Jutsu Kai) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 4 Chakra Consumption: x1 High to cast, x2 Mid to sustain Much like the parent technique, this also calls upon the stored cat chakra within the Izuno clan scroll. Instead of gifting one ability at a time and switching, this technique utilizes all of the cat chakra types and fuses them. This shroud is orange in color and similarly gifts cat ears and a tail, as well as turning their nails into claws. In addition, the user gains a cloak of orange energy around their hands and feet. This technique allows the user to smell and hear within 25 meters around them and also grants a +2 boost to both strength and speed.
Note: The user can only utilize Izuno clan techniques while the cloak is active.
Piercing Claws Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Offensive Handseals: 5 Chakra Consumption: x1 High
Thanks to the gift of their enhanced cloak, the user now has chakra formed around their hands and feet for increased damage. Using them as a base, the Izuno clan member will first weave the signs before they are able to swipe their claws and send forth projections of three, slicing, vertical waves in crescent-like shapes.
Note:These waves fly at speeds equivalent to level 2 and strength comparable to level 4. They measure 5m in length and curve inward.
Nekoguruma (Cat Wheel) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x2 High
Having flexible joints is often something that is looked down upon within the various abilities that wild animals have. Strong jaws, giant horns, and all of the like are all considered much more valuable. When put in the right hands, it can make someone nigh invincible. The Izuno clan, while fully cloaked, is able to exercise their own brand of flexibility in moments of crisis. When an attack is unavoidable, they can manipulate their body so as to position themselves to take less damage than they would have. This applies to weapons, taijutsu, ninja tools and the like and is much less useful against the broad ranges of ninjutsu.
Note: With this technique, the user is able to mitigate physical damage at the moment of impact by 1 level.
Cat Projection Technique Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Offensive Handseals: 6 Chakra Consumption: x2 High
The antithesis to their usual jutsu, the user is able to manifest the chakra of the cats that they have borrowed. The total that can be summoned at once is 10. They can be used for espionage, a distraction, or as an offensive strike. The cats are able to move at and have speed equivalent to level 4, though they dissipate after being struck once. They tend to synchronize and attack one limb at a time, slowly immobilizing their prey through numerous bites and lacerations.
Note: The user can't utilize a Full Cloak while using this technique, only the partial covering. These ninneko must stay within 20 meters of the Izuno clansmen or they vanish.
Cats Have Nine Lives Technique (Neko ni Kyūshō Ari no Jutsu) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 7 Chakra Consumption: x1 High/x1 Massive
Scions of the Izuno clan have long coveted the ability to truly manifest the nine lives that a cat has to offer, though they fell short of their goal. Instead, they developed a specialized technique that had a play on the phrase. After weaving the handseals, the user is able to stop their bleeding and close any wounds that they may be suffering from.
Note: This does not cure or restore any fatigue, and any poison or toxin remaining in their system will continue to circulate. The closing of minor wounds takes half a post to close, and only x1 High, and major wounds a full post, along with the x1 Massive. The user cannot use any other techniques while this is active, but they can move around. With this technique the greatest feat they could accomplish is staunching the stump where a missing limb would have been or deep gashes that might ordinarily need stitches.
Cat God Possession: Monster Cat Beckoning (Nekogami Hyōi: Bakeneko Maneki no Jutsu) Rank: SS Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 9 Chakra Consumption: x1 Massive, x1 High sustain
The epitome of the Izuno clan skills, this technique enraptures all of their core techniques and uses them at once. After performing all of the seals, the user will unravel their scroll and bring forth all of the ninneko chakra like another technique. This time, however, they use it to form a much larger, red cloak around themselves taking the form of a maneki-neko. He has a large black, velvet collar with a pure golden bell attached to it. His eyes are large and, unlike their cat counterpart, rather menacing like an angry lion. Three whiskers line his face and he has three wispy eyelashes. In his right hand is a large stone tablet shaped like a paper lantern, with the kanji for ten million ryo on the front of it. The bottom of it is surrounded by an ethereal flame made of chakra. Because of the constant flux of chakra around them, the user is able to break a genjutsu without the use of Kai so long as they realize they are under the influence of one. The chakra shroud isn't physical, so physical matter instantly flows right through.
Note: The user must have completed a Kinjutsu quest as well and must purchase this technique at the same time as purchasing the 3rd tier mastery. In regards to Ninjutsu, due to Earth and Water being physical they can strike through without the B-rank mitigation. The cloak has incredible strength & Defense on par with level 6 and has a max height of 15mhx10mwx2md, it's size can be manipulated at the user's discern.
