When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

[INSERT SNARK HERE]
Hitora looked around, he had been told to meet at the Kami Compound by his new teammate. Xio, the young Jinchuriki, together they formed the sole Jinchuriki team of the Hidden Cloud village. The now orange haired Uchiha looked around, his eyes still a bit weary and tired looking from the ordeal of having had the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed within him. But that was neither here nor there at the moment. He could feel a fraction of the beasts chakra available to him this soon after having had the demon sealed within him. He felt much more powerful in terms of his Chakra reserves.
Hitora looked around a bit as he got to the gateway, the only weapon that he had on him beyond his own Jutsu was his Sword, a blade that he felt close to for some reason. He approached the guardhouse, the empty shell that normally would house a guard but this guardhouse for some reason did not have one at all for no conceivable reason. The letter that he had received from the young XIo that had accepted his offer to have that spar they should have had on the day of sealing told him to wait near the gates.
The letter did not specify if he should enter the compound or if he should remain just outside of it. For his own security and to not risk angering anyone the young Uchiha opted to stay just outside of the compound. He would lean against one of the gold plated walls and await for the young man he was meant to spar with, to have a friendly if somewhat serious battle. He was sure that the young man also wanted to test his own mettle against a worthy opponent and whom was more worthy than another Jinchuriki after all.
Xio looked at the clock and despite being fully dressed he hadn’t fully made his way out of bed, sporting his usual attire of a black t-shirt, with matching cargo pants he jumped to his feet. Landing the genin patted himself down ensure he had all of his gear with him before rushing to the window, arriving he would grab his scythe and lunch himself forward into the front yard of his parents home. Despite being from a noble clan the lad always struggled with punctuality, Xio slapped his scythe to his back allowing It to sit snuggly on his back as he increased his speed. ‘They should greet him at the door right?’ Xio thought as he remembered there was always a doorman at their gates.
A few moments later.
After making it through the city Xio found himself at the front gates, they were still closed amazingly. ‘I Told them we had a vistor coming sheesh’ Sighing light Xio made his way into the control room for the gates to find the two men sleeping.
“YO Open the gates!”
He shouted at the top of his lungs, the duo quickly jumped up opening the gates.
“Y’all aren’t getting paid for today, I’m finna tell my dad y’all were sleep at the wheel.”
As the genin spoke he pushed out of the control while the grand gates opened brushing up a bunch of dust. Xio would center himself at the opening of the gate hoping to see his partner on the other side.
Xio jolted awake, his face drenched in sweat, his heart racing. Confusion washed over him as he surveyed his surroundings.
"Why am I in my room? I thought I was on a mission with Hyouka and Jin,"
He muttered, trying to make sense of his situation. He took a few deep breaths, attempting to calm himself, but an unsettling feeling of being lost lingered. His body and mind felt drained, and his memory of the previous day was hazy at best.
"Damn it,"
He sighed, sinking back onto his pillow and staring at the ceiling.
"What the hell is happening? That couldn't have been just a figment of my imagination,"
He pondered, his thoughts heavy with uncertainty. Xio lay there, contemplating his circumstances with a somber expression. Waking up in his room at the compound with no recollection of the previous day was an unusual occurrence, and it troubled him deeply.
"Maybe it was all just a dream,"
he murmured, his voice barely audible. With his left hand, he wiped the sweat off his forehead, making an effort to calm himself down and find a semblance of relaxation.
A knock at the door would catch the lad’s attention quickly causing him to snap his view in that direction. The door would open.
“Master Xio, they’re ready for you downstairs your father would like to see you.”
An older gentleman peeked his head inside the door for a moment with the notification before making a swift exit, Xio would sigh under his breath.
“And now the old man wants to talk to me. What the fuck happened yesterday.”
Speaking to himself as he was alone now, the boy would take a few more moments to relax in bed. Despite feeling like woke up from a nightmare, it was nothing like the comforts of his parent’s home to relax any tension he’d had.
“But no sense in waiting around for him to come to give me a speech about being late.”
Lifting upright from his pillow and turning off the edge of his bed he would slam his feet on the ground Xio sat on the edge of his bed slouched over for a moment. A rather slender boy, he kind of looked like a skeleton at times but it didn’t matter because he was still plenty sturdy. He wouldn’t stay slouched too long as he would go through the usual, putting on some causal attire to go meet with his dad. After he was fully dressed, he would make his way out of his room, down a pair of steps, through a hallway, and into one of the family’s main living rooms.
“Looks like he found more stuff to put jewelry on.”
As he made his way into the room into the room he’d take note of all the new art pieces his father, made he was a very talented man to say the least. ‘Now lets get to the business.’ He’d thought as he’d make his way over to the couch to take a seat.
The elder Kami strolled into the room where Xio sat alone, once he seen him he would greet him formally before he found himself a seat on one of the chairs facing the coach his son was sitting on. Xio would respond with a head nod as his father spoke before sitting back in his chair, the two would share an intense moment of silence. Before his father would finally break the silence.
“So currently, you’re out of shinobi duties indefinitely. You’re not allowed to leave too far outside the village for a while because ya know, Oh yeah you don’t know. Your friend Hitora was the Shinobi you guys were after a couple of days ago if you didn’t know, they saved him but ended up having to reseal the nine tails in a jar. So no Fuma doesn’t want you off this compound if you’re not in the village, but mainly she specified you should remain here for the time being while she sorts things out in the village.”
As his father spoke Xio listened and nodded his head he was surprised that he didn’t see this coming from a mile away, what kind of village gives up same opportunity twice?
“So what am supposed to do, go back to wasting on the training fields? What’s that going to accomplish?”
The boy questioned with obvious confusion on his face.
“Well it might be time for you to take on the family trade, and learn to create rather than destroy my son.”
Xio would sit back in his chair before folding his arms across his chest at the thought of becoming a worker in his dad’s shop. Sighing, the young Kami started to be perplexed by the thoughts of Fuma-Sama taking him off duty.
“So because she decided to seal this beast in me, I lose my rights to be a shinobi, I call bullshit dad, I understand, but I don’t agree.”
As he sat across from his father his emotions stirred, he couldn’t believe that he was being put on shop duty. After all the progress he was making with his ninjutsu he was being put on pause and told it was too dangerous for him to go outside because they didn’t know who could be watching.
“Or at least are they doing something to fix this situation.”
Xio’s father would sit back in his seat with the bleakest expression on his face, he wasn’t surprised by his son’s discomfort, but it was necessary.
“Well, honestly son, she’s doing her best to get to the bottom of what’s going on but there’s no set date. I was told you’re still allowed to train, but from now on you are not allowed to leave the village unless you’re coming here to the compound. But don’t be so gloom, the same place you’re spiting on helped you get a better handle on that Youton situation, right? So, you should be honored, or excited to learn how to create things that could aid your pursuit of power son.”
Speaking in a similar tone to his son the elder Kami tried his best to soothe his son’s worries although he knew there wasn’t anything he could do presently that would fix his mood. For a moment silence would slip over the room as the two sat there in silence, Xio’s father would reach into his pocket and pull out a piece of paper.
“Here’s your official paperwork, you’ve been officially enrolled as a blacksmith of Kumogakure.”
Xio’s father would drop the paperwork on the table in front of the duo for his son to take, the deed was already done as far as his enrollment. The younger Kami would sit up in his chair before grabbing the paper from the table to read it.
‘Xio, Welcome to the Blacksmith Corps, it’s a pleasure to have you on our team, you have access to all official blacksmith equipment. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to anyone in the association.’
The genin read and he would feel like a heavy burden had been placed on his back, it was rare that he’d felt like this but he felt like this would pull him away from his studies as a shinobi.
“All right, Well I guess that’s it, off to the smelters.”
Xio would stand from the coach he was sitting on, then he would stuff the note in his pocket as he looked at his father.
“I guess it won’t be so bad, I’ll make some money in the process right?”
As the genin spoke he would head for the doorway that he entered from, ‘I got this, it’s gonna be all good.’ And with that, he would start to make his way out the room.
“Well son, you never know what you might figure out in your mental while you work the forge.”
Xio would nod to his father as he exited the room, he would make his way back up to his room where he would stretch out on his bed.
“I guess, I can make something out of this as usual.”
