When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

[attr="class","textie"] [break][break] Shinji felt like the Kazekage may put him in charge of the mission, possibly making Yusuke fall away. That did not bother Shinji whatsoever, however, in his eyes, he doesn't think training during travel to a land we have never been to is not brilliant. However, Shinji has a different view of war, a different view of shinobi life. And, taking a fresh Genin out of the village to train is a bad idea.
[break][break] "We stand ready to undertake this mission, Lady Kazekage. This endeavor presents an invaluable chance for personal development and a platform to embody the spirit of our village. As for the timing of the mission, we'll adapt to your timeline and assure our readiness at the required hour."
[break][break] Shinji listened as Yusuke spoke, he decided to wait for him to finish, but he was gonna have a talk with Yusuke after all of this was done before he leaves. Shinji's eyes remained focused forward as he just pondered everything going into this trip. Shinji's focus went to Yusuke for a moment.
[break][break] "And regarding those training drills en route, I'm all for it. The application of skills in a wide array of circumstances can only enhance proficiency."
[break][break] It was then that the Kazekage spoke up again, as the young man's eyes floated from looking at Yusuke over to the leader of their village as she spoke. He still had to wonder thoughts about her relationship with his brother and while it wasn't any of his business still didn't mean he wasn't wondering what it is.
[break][break] “You guys will be leaving at the end of the week; I’ll need you all to prepare yourself for at least a two-week-long journey, maybe more when you consider the weather. I’ll provide you with a Map that’ll have the location of the village, and the rest of the details during your mission briefing.”
[break][break] Shinji would merely nod in her direction as his eyes never left looking at her as she continued to speak.
[break][break] “But all in all, your mission briefing will be in your mailboxes soon. Please do your best to prepare for this mission, you’ll be representing our village.”
[break][break] Shinji would observed her take a step back from the three of them as if she were gonna leave. Shinji would still remain emotionless as he normally is as she spoke again.
[break][break] “I’ll be taking off now before Nato finds me, Shinji, Yusuke, and Seigen. I’ll be in touch soon!”
[break][break] Shinji would watch her take flight and off into the distance as Shinji's eyes followed until she was out of sight. Shinji would then turn his focus to the other two. He would glance at Yusuke and then at Seigen. The young and eager-looking Genin would speak first before Shinji could even open his mouth.
[break][break] "This is incredible, My first missions outside of the village like this?! I'll see you guys later!"
[break][break] It was no sooner than Seigen started to hop roofs and scale them with ease away from them. He would stuff his hands into his pocket and turn toward the only other person left on this rooftop with him, Yusuke Uchiha. Shinji's eyes would look into Yusuke's eyes. Shinji would calmly begin to speak.
[break][break] "Yusuke. Before I go. I want to say I don't think training him in the field during a mission would be wise. This is likely to be an A-Rank mission. The parameters of the mission will be different. And, we do not know the relationship had with this other village. Nor the surrounding area. I think training should not be the focus outside of the village. And, personally, I think we should focus on securing whatever the objective may be. And, protection of the Genin should be a top priority. Training can happen when we return to the village. I'm sure you understand."
[break][break] With that Shinji nodded, and with that he turned from Yusuke hopping off the building onto a bed of formed sand over the edge and could be seen landing gracefully on the barrier of sand and gliding off into the distant.
Observing Seigen's excitement and Shinji's composed response, Yusuke took a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking up. He had noticed Shinji's concern over the idea of training Seigen in the field during an A-Rank mission, and he felt the need to address it.
"Well, I can understand the thrill you're feeling, Seigen." Yusuke began, addressing the Genin's earlier outburst. "It's indeed an exceptional opportunity for you. Make sure to prepare adequately, and don't forget to inform your mother."
He turned towards Shinji, his eyes firm and acknowledging. "As for you, Shinji, your perspective is valid and appreciable. But let me clarify: by training, I meant the honing of survival skills, observational capabilities, and tactical mindset, which can be best learned in real-world situations.”
He paused, allowing his words to sink in. "I don't intend to put Seigen in unnecessary danger. After all, our primary objectives are mission success and ensuring the safety of our squad, especially Seigen. But remember, in our line of work, the battlefield can be the best teacher.”
After expressing his perspective, Yusuke glanced towards the direction Seigen had left. "Now, I suppose we should start our preparations as well. See you soon, Shinji.”
And with that, he took a few steps back, giving Shinji a final nod. In a fluid, powerful leap, he launched himself from the rooftop, following the path Seigen had taken. His figure became smaller as he moved further away, the setting sun casting long shadows over the village.
