When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

Despite having passed the last round of the Chuunin exam's Chae often times had to remember just how differently that rank as well as the social status associated with it, caused others to view him, most notably the fresh classes of recruits that aimed to graduate Kirigakure's academy.
Despite having a more aggressive process to not only sorting through but also training the fledgling academy students, the council often times placed various times & events in the academy that'd been designed to inspire, mold, and maintain the morale and virtues held by Kirigakure's military force. Hand picked for said task, Chae Yoon, by means of the missions details, acted as a superior whose objective had been to share his experience as a Kirigakure Chuunin as well as provide a brief evaluation of their progress.
Dressed in a black, ninja-esque hoodie with matching pants and ninja shoes, Chae made his way towards the academy without a single sign or urgency within his movements. As one who valued and had been instilled with a strong sense of punctuality, whatever tasks and objectives Chae had been given, often times were navigated as if his life depended on it.
Walking through the damp, foggy paths of Kirigakure, before long Chae found himself standing before his designated location, the academy, a place and process he'd been all to familiar with.
"Well...I can't say that I've been here in a long time, not even since I graduated. I wonder how much has changed."
Even as Chae stepped through doors of the academy's entrance, Chae's mind couldn't help move about, conjuring memories and visions of times once lived. He remembered himself, younger, ambitious, and eager to learn, eager to prove himself to the shinobi world.
Chae looked on as he watched an ethereal ghost-like playback of his younger self walk through the halls of the academy for the first time. A memory so fond that it managed to draw out a slight smirk onto Chae's face.
Having had his fill of past memories, Chae motioned towards the specific class room in which he'd been expected, stood in front of the door, facing it head on. cupping the door handle with his hand, a brief pause filled his mind before sliding the door open. By natural reaction, both the academy teacher and the students turned their heads to lay eyes onto Chae's position.
He nodded as he stepped in while the Academy teacher continued to introduce Chae to the students followed by the true reason he'd been there to begin with. Standing in the front-center before the entire class Chae's eyes moved about, looking at each student before asked to speak.
"I guess I won't bore you any unnecessary details since you all know why I'm here already. You're all here trying to be shinobi, and the reality of it is...all of you won't make it."
His eyes scanned over the classroom once again; minor adjustments made to his posture before Chae continued to speak.
"This profession and line of work is grueling, hard, and unforgiving, especially coming from this village in particular and truthfully it only gets worse. As you continue and finish out your courses and training up until graduation you'll find out just how brutal Kirigakure's academy process can be."
A quick pause revealed the cutting silence that filled the class in the absence of Chae's voice. Step's taken to his side, a back and forth pacing began to take place in front of the students, his movements followed by the focused eyes of the Class' undivided attention.
"I was just like you all here once, an academy student aiming to beceome Genin, which I did, and eventually a Chuunin. However, that hadn't come without any grueling or brutal hardships. Becoming a shinobi is wonderful, learning powerful ninjutsu and taijutsu is fascinating, a feeling like no other. But you have to understand and not forget that you are a target of other clans, other villages, forces who are willing to attack you and kill you at a moments notice whether you're fully aware or entirely oblivious."
His words were harsh and through many perspective could've easily registered as discouraging, however, they existed in a wholeness of truth. The Shinobi world since the beginning existed as a dangerous one, a world that most times only rewarded the strong and the cunning. Chae felt as though if that message hadn't been delivered, he would've done a disservice to them, the potential future of Kirigakure. Ending his series of pacing, Chae stopped dead front-center once more as he offered closure to his message.
"Despite all of what I said, remember to value not only the Village and your superiors, but also any friends and allies you make. Even if you feel strong and capable on your own, the power and effectiveness of working within cells with your teammates will be nothing less than invaluable. Please do well to not forget that as it can change the entire out come of objectives from missions, down to entire wars. Thank you."
A nod of acknowledgement had been cast towards the academy teacher before Chae turned towards the door and made his leave, personally satisfied with that he had to saw towards the students. In truth, He hoped to see familiar faces from said class one day as aspiring genin's once the graduation ceremony concludes.
