When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

The Sound of slurping Ramen rang through the air as Chae chowed down into his half full bowl, working on it from various angles with each attack of his chopsticks that dug into the bowl. Capturing a mouthful of food at a time, his face swelled with great satisfaction being able to enjoy a meal within Kirigakure's premiere Ramen chop.
In tandem with the pleasantries of his hot meal, Chae pulled out and read over his next task, his next mission. During down time, both the Mizukage and his respective council members made sure that the registered shinobi force were kept busy in some way, shape, or form, to maintain optimized work effectiveness. Chae's task? simply to retrieve a cat that often times went missing. Sighing, he spoke.
"This damn cat again, how the hell does the owner let this little bastard just go missing constantly, not like i have anything going on today but sheesh. you'd think they'd put in on a leash by now."
Finishing his bowl a ramen, Chae placed his payment next to the empty bowl with in addition tip and nod towards the shop keeper before he seemingly disappeared in the following moment. Having heard and dealt with Lady Haruni before as a genin, Chae zero'd in on his destination with a series powerful leaps that carried him rooftop to rooftop in a seamless fashion.
Soaring through the rooftops of Kirigakure, not much time had passed before Chae's eyes that scanned the surrounding pinpointed and located Lady Haruni's place of residence. Confident in his discovery, Chae landed on the edge of one residential complex. Eased into the landing, quick pivot within his foot & ankle all him to turn, step off, and launch himself over towards the roof edge of Lady Haruni's place.
There after, a backwards step off, and soft plummet later, brought Chae landing in front of the woman's entrance. Wasting no time at all, Chae's right hand raised from his pocket; hand curled into a soft fist as he knocked against the upper half of Lady Haruni's door. Almost as if she'd been expecting him, the sound of the bolt lock being undone pierced through the door before it itself opened. Greeted by Lady Haruni with a smile, Chae returned a smile of his own without question.
He listened intently as the older woman provided him with the necessary details he needed to triangulate the cat's last known location. Truthfully once said location had been known, no doubt in Chae's mind existed about actually catching the cat itself.
Once Lady Haruni finished and provided Chae with what he need, much like before he disappeared from plain view as a blurred figure and set off to indulge in a game of cat and mouse, almost quite literally.
Given the information that had been provided to him via Lady Haruni, Chae had been privileged with instructions that allowed him to expedite the process of tracking down target in question. In a blur of movement, Chae arrived in the middle of a central, inner village park, not too far off from the slums of Kirigakure.
The Chuunin eased into a low crouch as he landed in a small mound of playground dirt; his head and eyes working in tandem as that moved to and fro, searching for where exactly the cat resided within this area.
"This is exactly where Lady Haruni describe, the cat shouldn't be to fa-"
Without warn the cat lunged towards Chae's face as he turned his head in the righter most direction, claws erect and ears slanted back in aggression. Prided on his nimbleness, agility, and most of all, his Speed, Chae confidently leaned back within his crouch and watched as the cat, seemingly in slow motion, continued to pass in front of him.
Relatively appalled by the cats attempt, his right hand reached out, snapping like thunder as the cat came to pass mid-air and cupped the back of its fur by the neck. Upon contact, Chae's chakra flared as signals reached throughout his tenketsu and commanded the awakening of his raiton based chakra nature.
The same chakra nature that jolted the cat the moment its body met with Chae's hand. Temporarily numb, The cat went limp, still alive, still breathing, completely unharmed...but docile. With the target retrieved, it hadn't taken Chae long to return the cat back to Lady Haruni, alive, well, and un-paralyzed.
