When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

An unexpected patient
Even as the last rays of the sun bathed Sunagakure in a golden light, Saya was just about wrapping up her day. Her small clinic, tucked away in a quiet corner of the village, was finally quiet after a long day of treating patients. She neatly arranged her medical supplies, her thoughts lingering on the day she had.
The hushed atmosphere that now filled the room was a stark contrast to the day’s earlier flurry of activity - the footsteps of patients coming and going, the rustle of medical scrolls being unfolded, the hushed whispers of reassurances given. But now, the clinic was finally quiet.
Saya’s mind vividly recalled the anxious faces that transformed into expressions of relief, the grateful nods of those whose pain she alleviated, and the unspoken words of gratitude that hung in the air. Despite the exhaustion that was beginning to settle in, she wouldn’t trade her profession for anything else.
In her quiet clinic, surrounded by her medicinal herbs and scrolls, Saya truly felt at home. It was in this space that she made a difference in people’s lives, and for that, every long day and every demanding challenge was worth it.

[attr="class","box"] Yusuke Uchiha had always been known for his unwavering composure. Even after grueling missions and high-intensity training sessions, he managed to maintain a facade of calm. However, the small whimpering creature he had found injured during his routine training session today had tugged at his heartstrings.
The injured dog was cradled gently in his arms, its small body trembling with every whimper. Yusuke was no stranger to battle injuries, but a suffering creature was something he couldn’t turn a blind eye to. Without wasting any time, he had dashed through the winding streets of Sunagakure, in search of the nearest medical help.
Just as the sun was painting the sky with hues of twilight, he spotted a small clinic tucked away in a quiet corner of the village. The light inside was a beacon, promising the aid he was desperately seeking. As he cautiously opened the door, the peaceful quiet of the place wrapped around him.
Yusuke's gaze found a young woman who embodied the essence of a healer. Her hair, the color of ripe raven. Her eyes, the most striking feature, were a clear, bright shade that reminded him of the expansive sky above Sunagakure. They were attentive and carried a spark of boldness. She was clearly wrapping up for the day, her hands carefully arranging medical supplies.
"Apologies for the interruption." Yusuke started, cringing slightly as another whimper from the dog echoed in the silent room. "I found this little one injured during my training. I thought you could help."
As the words left his lips, he couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of relief wash over him. The dog whimpered again, but its eyes, much like Yusuke's, were now fixed on the girl in front of him, hoping for the expertise of her healing hands.

An unexpected patient
She was just about to hang up her medicinal pouch for the day when the creaking sound of her clinic door caught her attention. As she turned around, she found a Jounin standing there holding a small, whimpering creature in his arms. A sight that immediately filled her with concern. The Jounin seemed worried, an expression she hadn’t seen on many of her fellow shinobi.
"Apologies for the interruption. I found this little one injured during my training. I thought you could help."
Saya’s reaction was immediate. Without a moment’s hesitation, she stepped forward, extending her arms to take the shivering puppy from him. Its soft cries sent a pang of concern through her heart. As she craddled the fragile creature, her fingers gently stroked its fur, her touch meant to soothe and reassure the scared animal. The pup’s whimpers tugged at her heartstrings, but her expression remained composed.
“I’ll do my best.” she responded, her voice steady, instilling a sense of trust in both the worried Jounin and the terrified puppy. ”I don’t normally work with animals but I don’t mind helping an odd stray or two. Not many people care for animals these days, so I’m surprised ya even tried to save him.” Saya added with a playful tone and a wide grin.
In the silence that followed, punctuated only by the soft humming of her healing jutsu, Saya turned her full attention to her unexpected patient. The setting sun outside bathed the room in a soft glow, adding a serene quality to the scene. A Jounin looking on with worry and a small life waiting to be mended - it was an end to the day Saya hadn’t expected, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. “What’s ya name by the way?” Saya asked.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Shousen no Jutsu (Mystical Hand Technique) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid
Shousen Jutsu is one of the most fundamental yet vital Medical Ninjutsu techniques utilized by medical ninja. This technique allows the ninja to heal wounds by focusing their own chakra to their hands, creating a special chakra designed to speed up the body's natural healing process exponentially. The chakra is represented by a faint glow around each of the user's hands, a perfect circle formed around the appendage, with the glow itself letting off a faint, blue hue.
Note: This technique is capable of healing a small or moderate amount quickly, such as a single injured appendage, (in the time of one post) after damage has been received. However, larger scales of damage require more extensive periods of time (for a maximum of three posts). The level of “damage” sustained should be judged to the best of your capabilities, and if needed, confirmed by a Moderator.

[attr="class","box"] A soft smile tugged at Yusuke's lips as Saya accepted the injured puppy with open arms. The worried crease in his brows relaxed slightly. "It's a kindness that the world needs more of, wouldn't you say?" He responded to her surprise about his actions.
Looking down at the creature in her arms, he continued, "Life is precious, regardless of whether it's human or animal. And as shinobi, aren't we meant to protect the innocent?" He shrugged lightly. "Besides, how could I ignore those eyes?"
As she worked her healing jutsu, a blue aura glowed from her hands. He admired the serenity of the moment. It was an unusual scene for a shinobi - but not an unwelcome one.
At her question, he glanced up, his eyes meeting hers. “It's Uchiha Yusuke." he said, a warm smile gracing his features. "Thank you for caring for this little one. As for the cost, I’m happy to reimburse you for your troubles. What can I call you?”

At Yusuke’s words, Saya found herself flashing him a soft smile in return, feeling a sense of respect bloom in her chest. “Yes, it is,” she agreed, her voice carrying a hint of warmth. “Kindness can indeed go a long way, and it’s a trait often overlooked.”
As Yusuke continued to share his views on life and their responsibilities as shinobi, Saya found herself nodding along. She appreciated his sentiments, his understanding of their duty going beyond the human realm. “You’re right,” she replied.
Saya continued her healing jutsu, the blue aura surrounding her hands serving as a testament to her skills and dedication. She could feel the puppy starting to relax in her arms, its whimpers growing fainter. It was a testament to the trust it had in her abilities, a trust shared by the Jounin before her.
She glanced up when Yusuke introduced himself. “Uchiha Yusuke,” she repeated, the name filing away in her memory. “You’re welcome, Yusuke. And about the cost…” she trailed off, a thoughtful expression on her face.
She considered for a moment before responding, “Seeing this little one recover will be payment enough. But if you insist, maybe you can help me out some time. A helping hand is always appreciated.” She then smiled and extended her own hand, “I’m Saya. Saya Yamanaka.”

[attr="class","box"] Evident admiration was etched in Yusuke's gaze as he observed Saya's tranquil demeanor and her gentle ministrations to the small creature. However, his eyes were instinctively drawn back to her, beguiled by the warmth echoing in her voice. Her sentiments harmonized with his own, manifesting an unsaid concordance.
As she broached the topic of remuneration, Yusuke was poised to oblige. Yet, her proposition was unexpected and delightful, invoking a ripple of chuckles from him. "An irresistible proposition, Saya Yamanaka," he retorted playfully, his hand meeting hers in an amicable handshake. "Let's seal this pact then."
His gaze meandered back to the now serene pup. The sight filled him with an overwhelming sense of gratitude, dispelling his prior anxieties.
Yet, as the moments elapsed, a niggling awareness crept up - the call of his unfinished training. With a slight hesitation, he drew himself up, his expression apologetic. "Unfortunately, duty beckons. I have to return to my training," he explained, a hint of regret lacing his words. He then offered a hopeful smile, adding, "However, how about we train together sometime? It’s an effective way for us shinobi to connect and enhance our camaraderie. Plus, I think it could be fun. You will usually find me training in the Sprawling Drylands or wandering around the Village.”
He hung his farewell in the air, marking the end of a fortuitous encounter. As he departed, his heart felt lighter than it had in days, fueled by the heartening experience and Saya's compassionate intervention.

Saya observed the subtle shift in Yusuke's demeanor, her eyes reflecting the admiration in his gaze. She was touched by the respect and gratitude evident in his words and actions. His laughter, a melodious tune, added a lighter note to their exchange. "Deal sealed, Uchiha Yusuke," she replied, her hand firm in the handshake.
She noticed his gaze shifting back to the now tranquil pup, his face exuding relief. It was clear the little creature's well-being meant a lot to him. It was moments like this, Saya mused, that reaffirmed her faith in the kindness of fellow shinobi.
The room lapsed into silence, broken only when Yusuke announced his imminent departure. She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment at his departure but understood the inexorable call of duty. "Of course," she responded, an understanding smile gracing her lips. "Training never waits."
His offer of joint training, however, sparked her interest. "Training together, you say?" she echoed, her eyes twinkling with curiosity and enthusiasm. "That could indeed be a rewarding experience. It would be a great opportunity to understand each other's techniques and improve our own. Plus, a little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right?" she said sticking her own tongue out.
As Yusuke bid his farewell and retreated, Saya was left in the comforting silence of her clinic. A hint of a smile lingered on her lips, as she began to anticipate the prospect of a potential spar with Yusuke and their blossoming camaraderie.
