When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?

The day had almost been like any other day within Mizu no kuni. Damp forestry thrummed with life as animals and insects alike that aligned with Mizu no Kuni's environment prepared to deal with their own lives & obstacles.
Although they existed on a different level than most humans, they were, without a shadow of doubt, living things that deserved and had a purpose for to their lives. Desiring a grand purpose of his own, Chae knew a new spark of discovery had been long overdue.
His mind began to think back and reflect upon all the past events and encounters that lead him up to that exact moment, Grinning at the memories of his greatest accomplishments, and not so much at his failures.
Stiller than any mountain, Chae sat almost meditatively in one of Mizu no kuni's largest tree's that almost towered above the mist that perpetually occupied the country-side.
For what seemed to have been hours, he sat there, hidden behind a combination vegetation & mist as his mind intently read & gathered knowledge and information from every page of the historic book that told tales about the most iconic practitioners of Raiton based chakra.
Having mastered the art with no interest of indulging in other elemental areas, Chae's eyes remained wide in a state of excitement that others had never seen. Marveled by the documented displays of Raiton logged into the archives of its history.
"Compared to what these men have come to learn....I am nothing"
Discontent with his current knowledge of Raiton based Ninjutsu, Chae momentarily gritted his teeth as his mind flipped from one imaginative page to another, envision himself as the next uncontested sage of lightning that would've been etched into shinobi history. His fascination and affinity for the element itself had always been something that somewhat eluded him, however, it one thing had always been certain, it'd been that Chae always enjoyed the speeds that often time attributed to the element, as well as its color.
"There has to be something here, everything talks about how they use the element but there's no records of where to even begin learning or finding these things."
A soft sigh escaped Chae's lips and his temporary frustration released, knowing it served him no purpose. Composure regained, Chae continued reading, scanning through the book's text with a finger that carefully moved across each sentence, paragraph and Page. With a lick of his finger and a turn of a page, his eyes widened as he continued to read. Chae's eyes moved to and fro, excitedly sift through sentence after sentence until the technique described within ancient text effortlessly seized his attention.
"This...this is it. it has to be....Raiton no Yoroi. Translated as lightning armor"
Through text, the technique had been described as one of the most controlled and precise expressions of the element itself. Finally, Chae's attention came to an end and swapped presence with careful reading. Delving further into the informative text, Chae eventually learned that the user of said technique had been known as "Ramuh" a shinobi of course, however, from the words that described him, he existed as the true god of lightning.
"This....Ramuh...the True God Of Lightning huh...To think someone like this really existed at one point....I've got to learn more....but where....how."
Chae's desire to expand his arsenal of Raiton-based ninjutsu dug deeper than ever before the more he indulged the stories and descriptions of "Ramuh". Throughout previous war's that plagued the culture of shinobi, the text provided to Chae suggested that Ramuh once existed as a war hero to Kumogakure and its respective country, hailed as a savior during their darkest moments in history.
For a moment...Chae Paused as his mind then yielded to his minds imaginative needs. Visions of himself encrusted in the finest chakra molded into the raw power of lightning itself, moving and striking down enemies one after another as if he'd been a harbinger of zeus. Fantasies continued to envelop his consciousness, even envisioning himself going to blows with the Mizukage himself, a task that Chae knew presently only existed in dreams.
"To stand as equals with the Mizukage? This would allow it to become reality. Still, I plan on serving Kirigakure, but to combat Mochizuki on equal terms? I would enjoy that far more than i'm willing to admit around anyone else."
As Chae's intrusive thoughts came to an end, his research & studies continued and his body instinctively picked itself up onto both feet along the Tree's branch. "After the wars that ravaged Kaminari ended which left Ramuh as its sole savior, it been said that Ramuh lived out his remaining days in service to the Raikage until his retirement with his current whereabouts unknown."
One of the final passages regarding Ramuh's legacy ended with the location of current residence unknown, however, his death hadn't been documented whatsoever. To the young Chuunin, he saw hope that the man would've lived, still drawing breath in some old home away from the world itself; at least thats what Chae imagined.
"It doesn't say he's alive or dead...thats good, i think. Regardless I have to find out, even if not about him directly there has to be others that know about Raiton no Yoroi....or Ramuh himself which can lead me to where he is-"
For a moment, Chae paused and stepped over the branch's edge and began his descent toward the damp ground. Landed in a quick crouch before returning upright, Chae motioned towards the nearest pathway and stood in the middle of the road once arrived.
"If I'm going to do this, it means i'm going to have to be away for sometime. But its necessary, not only for my village, but for myself. This is my purpose....I'm going to Find you Ramuh. You've got a legacy that needs to continue."
"Considering I've already been to Kaminari, It seems I'll have to make a return visit sooner rather than later..."
Both hands reached back towards the edges of his flak Jacket's hood and pulled it up and over his head thereafter, leaving his face slightly covered and concealed.
"Seeing the nine-tails like that? In person with all of its power? I'm not sure how I would've made it out without the help of...I don't even know who the hell that was now that I think about it.
Either way, that speed is something I need. There are far greater threats popping up and I need to prepare....I know Ichijin and Sosuke are for a fact."
Finding solace within the comforts of his sorted thoughts Chae closed the book and had been left with a sense of fulfillment and purpose unlike anything he'd ever previously experienced. Momentarily satisfied with his progression of the books contents, Chae sighed and turned his head to face Kirigakure from a side-view.
"I'll have to stock up on supplies before I head out, mostly armor and a mask, I have to go about all this like I have some sense."
With his objective in mind and the sub-task beneath it, Chae made his next stop towards the shopping district within Kirigakure, where purchases he intended to make would've eventually equipped him with the necessary items he deemed appropriate for the journey ahead.
