When the comforts of civilization begin to dull our senses, we must never forget that in the beginning, there was war. And war. And more war. Long before there were empires, there were humans consumed with greed and the hunger for power. Resources, territories, information—these were the forms of sustenance upon which we preyed. Today, we call such habits vices. Oh, how arrogant we have become! Are we not still impelled by those primordial emotions? Is the advent of war so far-fetched? But alas, for you to truly understand, we must dive deeper into this land’s half-forgotten past.
There was a time when might was the only law that humankind knew. Fearsome clans roamed throughout the land, seeking amenable grounds within which they could take root and opposing forces against whom they could test their mettle. Given the irregularity of nature’s bounty, certain regions appealed more than others, and dominion over such coveted territories became the spark that ignited the earliest inter-clan wars. These fierce, internecine affairs tended to conclude only when one side had decimated their competition into oblivion, and many clans of story were rendered extinct during this period.
The victors of war, having claimed their territories, often made truces with surrounding locals, offering protection in exchange for access to the yields of agriculture. Over time, certain communities emerged as more dominant than others, either due to numbers or sheer talent, and their rapid expansion would force smaller, neighboring communities to either collapse into their fold or be devastated. When the dust settled, humankind found itself divided into the five major territories that we are familiar with today. And was the bloodshed over? With our lands obtained and our bellies filled, were we finally content?
06/01/2023 June is for Juggin
We made it y’all, another month of OTA, and fresh off the press we have another promotion ready. Leaving behind the opening bonus sadly, we welcome the jugggggg! June is for juggin AKA working hard, so we are making it a double rewards month for every mission completed! Yes we said it's double rewards, now you all can really get into the thick of those builds if you work hard enough. And who knows what you might uncover in the process. AND all jobs are free to enroll no quest EXCEPT ANBU(Black Ops) roles.
Jin's dry swallowing became audible the moment Hyouka-sensei corrected Xio's prediction about the mission at hand. She can't help but wonder if she has always been this much of a coward, or if she just feels out of her league among this tense situation and the skilled shinobi all around. [break][break]
Could she count herself among one of them, considering she is here as well?[break][break]
"Wha...!?" Her line of thought is abruptly interrupted and the brunette's eyes almost pop out of their sockets when her snow-haired cousin decides to forego all basic shinobi etiquette (?) to establish communication and diplomacy. Adrenaline shoots upwards from her feet and across her body, urging her forward, but she never takes the jump. From the corner of her eyes, the brunette notices that her sensei is dead silent and remains still, which could only mean she trusted his judgment even in such a high ranked mission. She follows suit on her decision, watching on as Xio moved further away with every step.[break][break]
The moment he speaks up, Jin directs a question towards her sensei, using the waves of his voice to mask her inquiry.[break][break]
"Hyouka-sensei, have you participated in many S-rank missions?" despite asking the Senju the question, it almost feels like she's just talking to herself. There's uncertainty in her mind, and the clear signs are the teeth biting down on her lower lips or her right index impatiently tapping away at her scrolls. She remains quiet for a brief moment to give her mentor some room for response.[break][break]
"It feels like the air is different when there are shinobi from other nations around. It doesn't feel the same as dealing with some bandits. I..." she tries to find a deeper and meaningful reason to the hesitation plaguing her mindscape, but nothing comes out. [break][break]
Jin shakes her head to get herself together. After possibly receiving an answer from her mentor, she jumps down from her perch a few moments following the departure of the mist shinobi, who seemed to move towards across the lake. After confirming a modicum of safety about her surroundings, she makes her way towards Xio.[break][break]
"Yooooooou!" her hands reach up towards her cousin's collar, who might as well be a giant. She lightly shakes him by his shinobi gear, as though scolding Xio for the reckless yet brave attempt at communication. [break][break]
"Have you forgotten shinobi are supposed to be stealthy?!"[break](╬ Ò﹏Ó)
‘Sheesh’ Xio muttered under his breath, a tinge of disappointment evident on his face. He stood motionless for a moment, realizing that his friendly gesture had not received the response he had hoped for. Although one of the men gave him an audible response, Xio could only mark them off as friendlies for the time being. As the duo took off towards the fort, he felt a tug at his collar from Jin.
"Have you forgotten shinobi are supposed to be stealthy?"
Xio sucked his teeth, the sound making a clicking noise. He glanced off into the distance, a sign of his inexperience surfacing at an inopportune moment. Turning to Jin, he made brief eye contact with her.
"Yeah, my bad. I thought I was saving us some trouble."
Despite his disappointed demeanor, Xio could partially understand everyone's caution in this situation. He decided to forgo formalities for the time being, realizing that his confidence in analyzing situations may have clouded his judgment. 'Noted, we're not out here to make friends,' he pondered internally. He then looked at his sensei, still perched in the trees behind them, and back at the fort.
"Should we chase after them or wait it out?"
Xio asked calmly but loud enough for Hyoka to hear. He figured the alarm and the presence of other shinobi would buy them some time to strategize. It seemed that the fort was being alerted, signaling all hands-on deck, and he had a feeling they would be met with resistance soon, regardless of their position.
"I don't think I properly prepared for this,"
he added, speaking only loud enough for Jin to hear unless Hyoka moved closer. Squinting his eyes slightly, Xio activated his Sharingan, causing the world to shift into shades of black and white.
"I'm going to prepare some shit for later."
As he spoke, Xio's hands joined together in front of his chest, swiftly moving through a hand seal while he awaited his next command.
Gourd Active 300/5000 Gallons +100 400/5000 Gallons
Fully Activated Sharingan: Three Tomoe Rank: A Range: - Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid per turn active. This is the final form of the “normal” Sharingan. The clan members’ pupil will turn red and develop three of the wheel swirls in both eyes. In this form, the clan member can read Genjutsu, Taijutsu, and Ninjutsu, learn how the skill is done and then copy it to be used then or later. This level of the Sharingan permits a great deal of agility, allowing them to better conserve and direct their attacks based on an impressive level of perception. Three tomoe Sharingan allow seamless copying and interpretation of a wide array of jutsu. At this level, the Sharingan can perform Genjutsu and hypnosis if eye contact is made and the ninja has access to the appropriate Genjutsu training. Additionally, keep in mind that the Sharingan’s ability to be used effectively is dependent on visibility and sight Range.
Note: This variation of the Sharingan is capable of piercing all a-Rank Genjutsu and below, and is capable of predicting advanced taijutsu (a-Rank and below), and comprehending movements that are 7 levels higher than their speed level. For an increment of one Mid worth of chakra, the user may copy any viable technique of a-Rank and below; this cannot be applied to Kinjutsu, Advanced Releases, or other Kekkei Genkai.
Sogensenshi (Chakra Nature) Rank: B Range: - Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: - A passive ability granted to a wielder of the Sharingan grants the user clarity of their target(s)’s chakra nature. The Sharingan user can see the person in question’s chakra is a fiery aura around their body, which seamlessly transitions in color to represent the elements he or she may possess (even advanced releases).
Note: As stated, this is a passive technique granted by having the Second Eye and beyond active. It costs no chakra. Once an Uchiha reaches this level their eyes have gained the ability to see chakra through solid constructs. Now their abilities aren't on par with the Hyuga, but they're able to see CHAKRA through solid constructs.
It didn't take much to see that Jin was a nervous wreck. However, she didn't want to instill blind confidence at a time and place where one should have a certain level of paranoia. “I've been on many and failed three. Of course, I've never done them alone. That's ANBU level."
Hyouka sighed at her team when Jin went forth to hold back Xio. Perhaps trying to build his confidence this early might've backfired. At least, Xio remembered about preparation right now and his antics shifted Jin's anxiety with a more pressing issue.
“Well, it's clear that the barrier we passed had some level of sensory function. For heavily fortified places like this, you do not go in without a plan to escape. Last time you burned the gates down, so I had the skillset and option to grab you and run out that way if we had to. Now, assuming two of us were injured and the last person had to make an escape while carrying two people, scaling a wall would be a terrible waste of time.”
Reaching into a pocket of her jacket, she pulled out a single exploding tag.
“Both of you got exploding tags on you, yes? We're going to set up a basic exploding tag formation on this side of the wall, remember the place then scale the wall or bust through the gates if they come for us through them. That way, no matter which two of us get beat up, the last one can activate the formation, blow a hole and run out that way.
I'm saying this now because ideally, we'd set another one up out here too for double insurance, but I have a feeling we might also need more exploding tags in there. Like that body of water in front? If you can't see the bottom, don't cross it unless it's the only way. Last time I did that, I got fucking jumped by crocodiles three times my size."
They were delicious, but still.
Hyouka didn't say the last sentence but put her exploding tag back into her jacket and quickly wiped her lips with the back of her hand only to find out that she wasn't actually drooling. Embarrassed, she quickly shifted the conversation.
'Is this a mission, or a social gathering?' he ponders, eyes focusing on the trio up ahead of him, having now noticed a third enter their range. By the body language they demonstrated and the way they were speaking to eachother, he could only but presume they were familiar with eachother. Though, fine-tuning his tracker and zooming in on the three, he could easily deduce see what exactly bound them together - 'So Kumo finally showed up for the cause..'. Slinking his way closer to the trio and keeping to the shadows of the trees during his traverse, he listened carefully and picked up what he could from the conversation the three were having - it's no wonder the Raikage had asked for help when all they had to offer was a walking daycare. Fortunately for them, it wasn't long until the black haired kunoichi seemed to take charge - whilst they all looked far younger than himself, it was clear that she seemed to have a ... strategic edge that neither of the other two had yet demonstrated. 'Their squad leader, perhaps?' He disgressed - now was not the time to be thinking of such things. There was far more at stake than trying to figure out the relationship between these three.
It wasn't long until Yuurei had reached the three, now standing approx. three meters away from where they had collected. It wasn't his intention to sneak up on them, but he equally hadn't been trying to make his arrival obvious - you never know who else could be watching out.
"Kumogakure's finest, I presume?"
he'd inquire, greeting the group with a flash of his yellow eyes beneath the cloak he was wearing.
Though his mouth was obscured from view, his speech was still clear for the most part and they should have no issue understanding what he'd said. As he spoke, his arms rose calmly upwards. Both hands, though lightly stained with some well-aged chemical burn, were empty of any weapon or items, and meant as a symbol of good faith to show that he had meant no harm. They were by no means comrades, but the least he could do was be civil. If they were to look over at him however, they would see no sign of any allegiance to a particular village. "What's the plan?" he asks cooly, glancing from left to right, whilst also keeping an eye on the two figures up ahead. "Seems like they're making good time." He comements as he looks up ahead, nodding in the general direction of the two. Having now crossed the aforementioned barrier, he was certain that whoever was inside that stronghold, or whatever, likely already knew that they were on the approach. He'd already heard the black-hared kunoichi draw out some elaborate plan to do with exploding tags, but he was appreciative that he wasn't directly part of the conversation. It was nice to be included sometimes.
{General information}Waiting for BM to reveal what else Yuurei can sense in the area beyond PCs.
- Herbalist's respirator worn [2 units of D-Rank Elixir of Agility installed]. - Tracker worn over left eye. - Dagger & Lariat sheathed. - Konohagakure shinobi headband removed.
Before I Post – There were details that I didn’t include and didn’t assume that people would exploit on our intro post but rather seek clarification SOME looked for an opening post but this is t1 right? As mentioned OOC, everyone was entering from the POV of the picture. No one was directly up on the building, so to have posted about making it to the building, you would’ve had to cross that lake….
That said, I’m going to make a few clarifications right now…
Starting point from the castle was 50 meters at the entry post, BF2 started on this side. So everyone is entering the forest over here. Chae’s team decided to run across the water from the water while everyone else decided to stay back.. We talked a lot about this OOC, and as I’ve said I’ll run with the punches some people adjusted their post and some didnt.
additionally, there was a request for a second intro post, not to skip the GM, so we will be accounting for both posts that happened. Happy RPing guys. Xio is no longer in this event."
Being amongst if not outright the first to arrive, Chae waited diligently; From seconds to minutes to hours and thusly days, Chae rationed his reserves specifically meant for reconnaissance. Finally, fate rewarded his patience as the faint sound of a voice projected throughout the entirety of the fortress, commotion.
On Cue, Chae finally moved, disturbing the nest of leaves, twigs, rain, insects, and animals that passed over. From said nest Chae emerged silently, almost as if he himself commanded nature to aid him in his silent pursuit. Covered in mud, grim, and soil of Kaminari, insects peacefully crawled off and away from his body as he came so a low, one-knee crouch, eyes slowly opened and alert.
Fina – He emerged from earthly constraints effortlessly, deciding to cease being one with nature, and instead, seek guidance from a perch higher than his own perspective currently afforded. He was agile in his approach, a sufficient quotient of dexterity used to maintain his ascent and rule out any form of error. Now, as he has reached his new position, he appeared to be intent on gaining some form of insight on our target. I sighed lightly, not minding that a simple activation of my own chakra would reveal all, and instead choosing to align his priorities with my newfound comrade. His name was prevalent in the dossier I had received before I had been dispatched to this mission, but then again, he was no stranger. We had completed several operations successfully, As such, I felt confident in speaking his name.
Jin – "It'll be alright, alright, alright...sigh..." As a cascade of nervous sweat flows down her features, she cheers for herself mentally. It gives her no extra courage points, but comfortimg herself like this keeps her grounded in reality instead of spiraling down into despairing scenarios that haven't even happened yet.
Unlike the outsiders they have for allies in this mission, even an inexperienced kunoichi like herself has some decent knowledge about the terrain. It doesn't take her much time to follow the rendezvous coordinates, and before long, she arrives and perches herself on a resilient branch, hidden amidst minor branches and leaves around her, with just enough room to peek at the entrance.
Xio - Breaking through the chakra barrier that shielded the castle, Xio and Jin advanced effortlessly, the barrier proving more of a visual illusion than a formidable obstacle. Perched among a cluster of trees, Xio stood shoulder to shoulder with Jin, his gaze fixed on the castle they were tasked to raid. Beyond it, he spotted two Shinobi that seemed out of place in this domain.
"Well, it seems like her information was accurate. We might have more support than initially anticipated. Things could get messy,"
Xio commented, his voice laced with a hint of uncertainty. Turning to Jin, he leaped from the tree, landing with a soft thud about 10 or 15 meters away from his fellow shinobi he noted off in the distance..
Apple -
A brash move from a brash shinobi, Chae &Fina were placing themselves in a world of danger as they started their trek across the waters sooner than anyone else. Without their realization, they were notifying them for a second time of their location, but this time giving them more of a pinpoint position of his and others without the need for any special help. As aforementioned Ishi No Toride setting post, this entire fortress has grunt/shinobi/workers, whatever you may call scattered throughout the fortress and, so internally yes, they were calling the generals to the battlefield, but it doesn’t state where the armies were coming from..
“We gotta live one’s boys, we’ve got shinobi approaching the front of the castle, two crossing the lake, and a few more on the shore!.”
one man out of the group would speak into a walkie-talkie as he looked through binoculars and without wasting a moment he signaled his men to move forward. A group of 5 that were lined across the bridge positioned to the side of the castle. the alarm was sounding but they already had their jobs ‘Kill anything that moves. Notify necessary units of trouble’ From their viewpoint they would see one man shoot out onto the lake, making his way toward the fortress followed by one other. The platoon jumped into motion, and without much of a thought fueled by the resonating alarm from their base, they flowed through a set of hand seals in unison while they tracked their movements back to where they exited the woods. (30 meters away).
“Sitting ducks.”
Just as the men made it to the halfway point, they all would’ve finished their seals allowing for 10 water dragons to sprout from the water below the bridge (20 meters from Chae and Ichijin), a truly dreadful technique when used properly purely because of its range and its ability to regenerate along with being able to move within the user’s eye range. The dragons would begin to diverge on the general area where Chae came from, the shinobi that was standing back on the other side of the lake. They would race forward attempting to crash into their targets, it wouldn’t take long for them to reach their destination.
Of course, they wouldn’t make themselves easy targets to destroy.
Chae - Refusing to return a verbal response of equal volume, a half-turn towards his rear, facing the Genin from a side view, a single "shushing" finger raised to Chae's mouth.
Not even a moment later had his legs and feet blazed in tandem, pushed against the branch that he and Ichijin remained perched. Launching himself through open gaps of branches and vegetation, Chae's final, upward Ascent carried him up, forward, and over the Fortress' edge.
Fina – I mimicked a similar path to that of Chae as I began my approach, using my most basic shinobi skills to walk across water, similarly to Chae. It would not take long to take note of the surging number of soldiers coming forth towards the main gate, as well as those that remained within. Each of their positions were also recorded.
GM – "Generals, send your troops to the front entrance! We've got company. Ensure they don't interrupt our process," his commanding voice resonated throughout the building, causing all the initiates to spring into action. They swiftly evacuated the premises, moving in unison.
"This should give us some time. I'll keep an eye out for any real trouble," Ushinawareta stated, her senses heightened as she heard the alarm blaring.
“Let’em have it.”
Chae’s intent to make it to the island from the shoreline without anyone noticing had been poorly planned out. Aforementioned in our first post they did call the GENERALS to send their armies to the front lawn, but of course once again, as mentioned, there were already grunts stationed in most places, and this included the entrance as well, with the forward notification of the duo crossing the lake from the bridge crew, once the pair overlapped the shoreline they were greeted properly.
From the top of the hill that the fortress sat upon, a small group of 5 would emerge about 30 meters away from the two combatants sporting the usual uniform of all black with a mask. Each member of the group stepped up carefully molding their chakra while forming a straight line with about 5 meters of space between one another in the direction of Chae and Ichijin themselves. Already preparing before for combat before they arrived, the two men on the edges of the line finished sealing first, their chests would swell with chakra before they would expel a joint attack spewing burning ash and smoke into the general area in front of the platoon setting the forest a blaze.
With that cover shortly after, the two men closer to the center finished their seals, and they would place their hands on the ground allowing their chakra to seep into it in opposite directions in order to affect the entire lakeside. An erosion started, sparing no piece of land, tree, animal, or shinobi from its will; to devour everything above ground. With each second that ticked past the area got swampier, hotter and harder to traverse, it’s not impossible but coupled with the spicy ash that was spewed all over the general area there was a lot to think about.
Although this was not the end of their torrent, the final man in the center of the group added the final layer. In a swift motion, the grunt raised his hands into the air allowing a Disk of air chakra to be formulated into his hand, before he threw it up into air in front of them, it would remain above waiting for visual signs of life as the other started to prepare for their next assault.
Suiryuudan no Jutsu (Water Dragon Projectile Technique) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Offensive Handseals: 10 Chakra Consumption: 1x High Suiryuudan no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja does a long string of handseals which then causes a column of water to rise and form into the shape of a large dragon measuring 15x15x15 meters. They can then direct this dragon to strike their target with devastating force.
Note: Though this jutsu has an extended range, it must be formed within five meters of the user. this dragon has a durability comparable to level 3, can move at speeds comparable to level 3, and strike with force comparable to level 3.
Haisekishou (Burning Ash Accumulation) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: 7 Chakra Consumption: 1x High Haisekishou is a Ninjutsu utilizing the Fire Element. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will expel an ash cloud from their mouth. This large cloud begins to envelope their foe(s), and when the user clicks their teeth, the cloud will ignite in an explosion. this ash cloud measures 15x15x15 meters in size.
Note: This technique has burning power similar to level 4 strength, and can travel at level 3 speed.
Yomi Numa (Swamp of the Underworld) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Offensive Handseals: 12 Chakra Consumption: Massive Yomi Numa is a Ninjutsu technique which utilizes the Earth Element. After performing a set of handseals, the user manifests a filthy, bubbling swamp beneath their opponent. The swamp's mud is infused to make it adhesive, making it highly difficult to recover enough strength to escape it. It pulls those trapped inside it down like quicksand, until they've been covered and suffocate to death. As soon as the trapped opponent has been absorbed, however, the swamp immediately disappears - as if it was never there to begin with.
Note: The swamp is 50 meters in length and 50 meters in width, making it ideal to sink entire armies and even large creatures, like Summons. It takes a full turn to sink into the muck.
Kaze no Chakram (Wind Chakram) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: 10 Chakra Consumption: 1x High, 2x Mid (upkeep) Kaze no Chakram is a Ninjutsu technique which utilizes the Wind Element. After performing a long string of hand seals, the user is capable of materializing a visible, green ring with a curved handle inside - a chakram. Although it is mainly used as a long-distance weapon, it is also suitable for close combat, capable of slashing, parrying, and even disarming an opponent.
Note: Once thrown, the user is capable of recalling the chakram back to them, so long as it hasn't moved out of sight. However, they are not able to direct its movements otherwise. This technique has a speed level of 4, and a strength level of 5 This technique was created by Addy.
As things quickly picked up once Chae and Ichijin approached the opposite side of the lake. The moment the lake itself turned shifted from water to land registered as the decisive moment in time where Chae became aware of the impending assault.
Before long the roaring sound of water dragons pierced through the openness of air, and despite, Chae hadn't looked back as his ears alone informed him that they sped away from the Mist duo in the opposite direction back towards the forest in which they emerged from. Pressing onward, his legs & feet continued to carry him forward, closing the distance from evermore. 25 meters from the top of the hill
!!!!!
What a nuisance. Rushing Clouds of accumulated Ash, rushed down the very hill that Chae and Ichijin aimed to climb and seize. Heft in size, yet relatively slow in speed, the downward velocity certainly assisted its rate of travel.
"F! The cloud is coming from head of use, there's enemies close b-"
Cut short, his words and sprint came to an immediate end as the very ground beneath Chae's feet altered for the worse in tandem with the ash explosion that set the immediate area of its domain ablaze.
What once existed as solid ground, swapped presence with a murky liquid that aimed to pull everything above it down with an adhesive influence. Truly a body of liquid mess and filth.
Refusing to wast even a moment of time, Chae's danced violently, sifting through Hand seals of his own concurrent with the Cloud of ash that lingered once it reached its max distance of 10 meters. Noted. Although not an immediate thread, Chae knew the ash cloud served a purpose whether it'd been a blatant attack, a distraction, or aggressive cover.
Parallel in time with the completion of his hand seal's, Chae launched himself slightly forward and released himself from the swamp's filthy hold. Body rotated at the hips prior to said jump; where gravity would've taken hold and brought Chae back down towards the swamp, it saw no conclusion, instead, with a feat of physics that defied his actions, escaped its mass,
Chae continued (levitating several feet above the "Ground") to spin and had done so at blurring speeds, so much so that said speed combined with the release of raiton chakra turned into a whirling vortex of violent lightning. Due to the velocity, Chae hovered above the ground and away from the swamps influence. Additionally the heavy winds generated from the twisting momentum of the tornado itself attempted to silence any fire and smoke and managed to trickle towards his position.
Concurrently, the uppermost point of the vortex soon formed the head of a mighty dragon that -for now- waited patiently for its next meal; aimed and ready to snap away towards any potential threats.
Still spinning and still levitated 25 meters from the hidden group and 15 meters from the blazing uphill forestry, Chae's hands continued to dance gracefully. He knew Ichijin's support had been close by. Once Finished, Chae's chakra rapidly sped out from his core and into the world itself as it crawled and spread itself across the swamp, the ground uphill, and anything that considered itself "earth" in the form of a Static Pulse.
The first pulse aimed to reach and Seize any incoming forces that may have sought to converge onto Chae and Ichijin's position. In an attempt attach to, infect and thusly invade Any live chakra network, Chae hoped to shock and electrify them until their sweet release.
Regardless if the first pulse reached them mattered not, the second, third, and fourth pulse and then some would've continued to reach towards any targets in the immediate area.
Chae believed that with the aid of Ichinjin and his ocular prowess, a chance of turning the tide still existed.
Tatsumaki (Lightning Dragon Tornado) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: 12 Chakra Consumption: x2 High Similar to the ‘Lightning Armor’ technique, this jutsu allows the user to be both defended and guarded by their own lightning. After a series of seals, lightning from the sky falls onto the user in a steady stream and the user begins to spin in place rapidly, suspended slightly in the air by their own chakra. During their spin, a vortex of lightning and raging winds comes forth, birthing from the top the head of a dragon comprised purely of lightning. The dragon can attack anything within its range, either directly with a snap of its maw, or indirectly by passing next to its target and sending smaller bolts from its side. It moves at frightening speeds just as long as the user keeps spinning.
Note: User is defended by the effects of Raigeki no Yoroi, and can even absorb enemy Raiton attacks to power the dragon and restore their chakra. User must be spinning to keep dragon active. Bolts in general do not distinguish between friend or foe, and the dragon can only attack one general target at a time. Chakra restoration is equivalent to below one tier absorbed. ( Low = None, Mid = Low, etc). This dragon moves at up to level 4 speed, and has level 4 strength in terms of piercing power.
Myaku (Static Pulse) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Offensive Handseals: 13 Chakra Consumption: x2 High to cast, High to maintain As its name implies, the ‘Static Pulse’ allows the user to deliver several quick pulses of shocking Raiton chakra, intended to latch onto any living chakra networks, invade them, and shock away until nothing is left. This is allowed because the caster coats the region of the technique, thirty meters, in a thin layer of his refined Raiton chakra. It spreads perfectly along the ground at fast speeds unless one has special eyes to pierce through such movement. Although brief, several can be shot at once, repeatedly, keeping the enemy at bay in a last minute ditch effort. Excellent when outnumbered.
Note: This technique has a strength level comparable to level 3. and travels at level 5 speed.
As unorthodox as our approach initially appeared – both from our newfound allies' perspective, who most likely judged us as harshly as we did one of their for their boisterous entrance, as well as the garrisoned enemies before us who, with such a high perch, would most likely see our advance within seconds of its inception – there was most certainly a reason behind their hasty rhyme. You see, we were the mist itself; we did not need to hide, for the mist would hide us. Chae, just a meter or so head, reached land first, but with a blink so did I; and as I did, oh did I take note of what was before us.
Whether they were satisfied or not with my answer did not matter, for in the end, once I recorded all visible traps in the area into memory, I moved on to the third and final aspect of important behind my ghostly gaze – the location of enemy troops. I mimicked a similar path to that of Chae as I began my approach, using my most basic shinobi skills to walk across water, similarly to Chae. It would not take long to take note of the surging number of soldiers coming forth towards the main gate, as well as those that remained within. Each of their positions were also recorded.
While my endowed vision was no Sharingan, whose fables claim the eye could see before time itself happened – that is, predict movement – I could still see almost essentially everything within fifty meters around me, down to its finest physical detail. And while all this knowledge was by no means instantaneous, I was nonetheless very much aware of the numerous threats that rushed out before as. As such, while we approached and they attempted to mount an offensive, I was already seeing their tenketsu activate, their hands move, and their chakra natures flare. Chae mouthed off a warning of hostiles; I decided to respond with more than just confirmation.
”Five dead north, five on the bridge. Jutsu are incoming...”
After many an operation, Chae-san knew exactly what I meant when I expressed my desired to embrace the darkness and let it envelop me. And the hostile invaders before us would soon learn as well. You see, while they had seen us and began to prepare for our arrival, I too had recorded their attempts, and used my keen intellect to devise an immediate retort. Hands flurried but for a second, my incredible hand sealing speed allowing me to cast Kirigakure no Jutsu – our village’s namesake and most famous jutsu – in less than a second. With but three seals requiring its induction, by the time my sandals felt the warm embrace of the shore, a sudden rush of thick, blinding mist would begin to rapidly cover the entire area around myself and Chae-san for fifty meters. To top it off, because we were so close to a water source, its potency almost doubled, rendering those relying only on visual support to see but a meter or two before them. Simply put, the trap was set.
Worried about Chae I was not. As a native of the Mist, he knew damn well how to handle himself in it. But this did grant us an advantage, and I prayed our nearby allies would also embrace the mist as a way of either moving covertly up, or as a way to hide their attack. Regardless, I still had work to do. As my mist came forth and the forest before me began to grow ablaze, a second pair of enemy combatants were attempting to produce earthly horror. Being an avid user of Doton myself, I was aware of the nature behind their attempts. Fortunately for us, I had summoned the mist long before their lengthy muddy drowning effect could even take place. It was a complex technique with a long string of seals required, after all. But me? All I needed was chakra, a plan, and some motivation.
With that cover shortly after, the two men closer to the center finished their seals, and they would place their hands on the ground allowing their chakra to seep into it in opposite directions in order to affect the entire lakeside.
And so, as a blind veil of mist drowned our enemies vision – that includes those on the bridge – a surge of chakra rushed to my lower body, and within the blink of an eye I was off, the lakeside earth around me shattering as I lifted off. Best of all, with Byakugan still supporting me, I could still see all. Our thirty meter gap was quickly removed, Okami no Sora sending fine but explosive amounts of chakra down to my legs. The result? As soon as my simple, three-seal hidden mist technique was executed, I performed an otherworldly leap forward that would attempt to circumvent all incoming attacks, my body soaring through the whisking white sea and just over the forest area where the ash could potential begin to accumulate - if I failed in my approach, that is. My targets? Those five soon-to-be-dead enemy combatants.
Each member of the group stepped up carefully molding their chakra while forming a straight line with about 5 meters of space between one another in the direction of Chae and Ichijin themselves.
If my efforts were successful, I would have a chance to interrupt our targets' efforts. Between their proximity to each other, the distance covered by my jump, the simplicity in seals in my techniques versus theirs, and my hand sealing speed, it was possible I could move faster than they could end their own attempt at terror. And even if they somehow were able to get their earthen tomb to begin absorbing all who walked over it, I was still before them. And they certainly couldn’t see that. Couple that with the blazing sounds of war that rang all over, and I was pretty sure my concealed and rapid approach would go unnoticed.
And that is when it would hit them.
The flurry of palms was both blindingly fast and unforgiving. Coupled with my ultimate mastery of the Gentle Fist, and not only would Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou strike all those around one hundred and twenty eight times as I moved my chakra dipped palms at impressive, abnormal speeds, it would seal their chakra, as well as leave disabled the areas struck. You see, as a master Jyuken of the highest level, I did not just seal your chakra; I took the time to do so, all while dealing extreme internal injury. I did not just want to stop the enemy's assault on my allies; I wanted to hurt them. Badly. Simply put, I wanted to end them.
My handseal speed is x4 per second. Hidden mist is only 3 seals. This leads me to believe I can beat the 7 seals needed for Burning Ash, 12 needed for Underworld, and/or the 10 for Chakram.
We’re right next to a large body of water. This strengthens my hidden mist technique, and makes it so you can barely see more than a meter or two.
The hidden mist is affecting the enemies on the hill, as well as those on the bridge.
If I can produce those seals that fast, my raw speed stat matches theirs, and jump, I think there’s a realistic chance I can interrupt at least some techs. If not, I think I can still miss the effects because I jump over the projected ash range (only 15 meters), and I’d be within 5 meters of my hopefully mist-blinded enemies. Perfect range for Jyuuken.
I’m targeting two Underworld casters first. The others are fair game based on how that encounter goes...but it IS 128 hits XD
{† JUTSU USED †}I. advanced exercise, 8th degree - Through proper refinement, the Hyuuga Clan member may now expend a "Low" amount of chakra to cover their appendage in chakra in order to deal moderate internal damage to a victim. This includes cramping up specific muscles, which can, in some cases, severely limit a person's mobility. Does not apply to weapons styles or any type of weapon. Does not stack with other masteries or supplementary techniques.
Byakugan (All Seeing White Eye) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low per turn active As its name implies, the Byakugan is just that, a featureless white eye that can occasionally possess hints of blue-gray and lavender, respectively. When the Byakugan is activated, the user's pupils become more distinct, and the veins near their temples bulge, representing the sudden chakra activation that makes the doujutsu possible. All members of the clan possess and can use the kekkei genkai from birth, as opposed to needing to awaken it. Byakugan gives the user a near 360 degree field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. With this vision, the Hyuuga can see through solid objects, and can use a degree of telescopic sight up to a maximum standard distance of fifty meters. However, by holding a single seal (tiger), the user may enter a "focused" state and increase their range up to a maximum of five kilometers; they must remain still during this enhanced sight, and due to their attention (and sight) being well beyond their immediate surroundings, are quite vulnerable to assaults. Finally, one of the greatest uses of the Byakugan is the ability to see chakra, chakra flow as well as the chakra circulation system inside the body with great detail. It is from this particular ability that they are able to employ their ultimate attack style - the Gentle Fist. LikeNote: Because of the eyes ability to see all things chakra related, the user can detect chakra sealed barriers as well as determine when genjutsu is being used; this means hyuuga are unaffected by genjutsu cast upon them. It can also discern a transformation as well all types of clones (spare for Shadow Clones, as the chakra is evenly distributed).
Kirigakure no Jutsu (Hidden Mist Technique) Rank: D Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Supplementary Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: 2x Mid x2 Low Kirigakure no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element, and is native to Hidden Mist ninja only. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will generate a thick mist over a vast area to obscure the user and enemies range of sight. This technique’s potency is dramatically increased when used nearby large bodies of water, to the point where those enveloped by the mist can barely see what’s in front of them. Note: The area that this mist can cover is roughly fifty meters in all directions, with its epicenter being anchored to point of origination (where the user was standing when the technique was cast). Particularly strong explosive katon or fuuton (a-rank +) is capable of removing the mist entirely. In the presence of large bodies of water, the range of vision is limited to no more than two meters. Without it, the range of vision is limited to no more than five meters.
Okami no Sora (Rising Sky Emperor) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+) Type: Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid Low Yet another versatile aspect of the Medic's Chakura no Iko style is their ability to produce fine amounts of chakra, at once, for destructive reasons. In this case, the medic sends a healthy wave of chakra at their feet, that allows them an impressive forward leap (up to twenty-five meters). As they land, another chakra burst serves to cushion their landing, as the area around is slightly destroyed (in a five meter radius) by the sudden displacement of one's chakra to soften the landing.
Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou (Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: High Mid The final level of Hakke strikes involves doubling the previous 64, and like its younger brother, remains passed down only through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. As the amount of strikes is double from before once more, the Hyuuga ends up striking 254 accumulated times against their individual foe or opponents. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and finally 128 times, leaving their victim paralyzed and without chakra. Note: This technique effectively seals all of the user’s chakra natures, including the raw chakra necessary to utilize kekkei genkai. It should be noted that these strikes are carried out incredibly fast. Chances are, if you’re hit by the first two, the subsequent one hundred, twenty-six will also land. In most cases, this will be considered to be automatically true. However, we are aware that there are some situations where this simply may not be possible (the chances of it happening is very rare). In that situation, a moderator will come in to judge the situation accordingly. Presuming the technique does not finish, but the target was hit enough times for the damage to be substantial, they victim will be limited to c-rank jutsu and below for the remaining duration of the thread.
Moments where Jin scolds Xio for doing something wrong are rare, which is a standing testament to the difference in experience between them. Regardless, this momentaneous relief swiftly fades away as her cousin's eyes turn red. Instantly pulled back to reality, she is reminded that right now they are cloud shinobi entrusted with a high ranking mission.[break][break]
This isn't the time to fool around.[break][break]
"Got it!" she says in response to Xio's announced preparation. The brunette's right hand swiftly reaches for one of the scrolls strapped to her waist, holding and positioning it at chest level. Meanwhile, a fourth figure reveals themselves, their identity hidden by a cloak save for the flash of yellow eyes amidst lurking shadows. Jin remains quiet, as she believes her mentor is the one best prepared to handle interactions in the field.[break][break]
As the shapes of the mist shinobi turn smaller with every passing second...[break][break]
Poof![break][break]
"Eh? Huh?! Xio??" Suddenly, her white haired team member disappears, poofing away in common white ninja smoke as if summoned away via kuchiyose somewhere else. Jin frantically looks back and forth, scanning the surrounding area. No signs of him anywhere.[break][break]
"Xio's gone!!" Jin looks back at Hyouka, before her sharpened eyes then land on the mysterious cloaked shinobi. Is he behind Xio's sudden disappearance? Truth be told, she wanted to flare her emotions at the new arrival then and there. Considering he approached them with hands up to avoid any signs of aggression, however, she sweeps the idea out of her mind. Gritting her teeth, she continues her search for their team member, until she sees the water on the lake is ominously moving. Several men could be seen on a bridge not that far away from the unnatural movement of the lake.[break][break]
She's quick to connect the pieces of the puzzle together. [break][break]
"Sensei! Incoming suiton at one o'clock! I'll intercept the casters!" Jin is confident that her mentor is their best bet whenever it comes down to countering suiton techniques. Betting on that, Jin sprints eastward to both evade the incoming water dragons, but also to align herself for a better shot at the enemies stationed on the rightside bridge connected to the fort across the lake.[break][break]
As she disappears amongst the trees, she notices a sudden mist encroaching upon her targets as she tracks enemy positioning. While she has never seen it before, the kunoichi surmised that that was the work of the mist shinobi, a simple enough conclusion that anyone could reach. Mentally thanking whoever did it, the brunette would now have a much easier time following through with her plan.[break][break]
"Kai!" with a quick burst of white smoke, she summons forth a tool from within her scroll; steel wire. Holding the scroll she had just used with her mouth, Jin picks another one strapped to her waist and ties it to her recently acquired 3 ft of wire, before spinning it with her right hand. Her gaze lands upon the bridge one last time.[break][break]
"This distance... Maybe... Fifty?" once the mist swallows the enemy forces completely, the kunoichi jumps from amidst the trees. She lands on the shore performing somersaults to build as much momentum as possbile, before launching the scroll at the bridge. As the wire-assisted scroll travels in a high arc towards her target, the kunoichi weaves five handseals. The scroll explodes in white smoke the moment it lands on the bridge, releasing and launching its contents everywhere with the intention of entangling the enemy in a 100 ft of ninja wire lined with explosive notes.[break][break]
After her initial offensive setup, she weaves one last handseal following the white smoke explosion.[break][break]
"Fuubaku Houjin!" Upon command her assault begins, initiating a chain reaction of half a hundred explosions in one single attack, attempting to blow up anything and anyone that still lingered in the bridge following the initial scroll explosion.[break][break]
・Jin warns Hyouka of Xio's sudden disappearance and of the incoming water dragons.[break] ・She sprints east to avoid the water dragons and to reposition herself for a counter-attack. [break] ・Jin seizes the opportunity created by the mist to launch and detonate one of her scrolls at the enemies stationed on the bridge.[break][break]
No response. Xio had completely disappeared in a puff of smoke. Jin started panicking like the nervous wreck she already was coming here. At the same time, someone came from behind them, asking if they were the Kumogakure's finest. Turning to see his hands up, Hyouka decided to at least humor his question.
“Nope, the opposite."
"Sensei! Incoming suiton at one o'clock! I'll intercept the casters!"
Despite Jin's shortcomings, she was still quick to action. As soon as the water dragons started making their way here, she ran off to confront the origin. Hyouka didn't approve of Jin taking action herself on enemies like that, but it was the right thing to do. After all, Xio was already gone. She could worry about him later.
“If you're with us," Hyouka would address the unknown shinobi if he was still around. “Go help her."
Hyouka unsheathed her Jian sword and gathered chakra as she started to jump towards the approaching enemies. It's cold edge radiated an even colder aura as her chakra built up.
Then, at the apex, she swung horizontally, from left to right.
A long wave of blue chakra glowed brightly, following the trajectory of her sword. Triangular shards of ice of random sizes sprouted wherever (and on whoever) the wave touched.
Tells Apple to go help Jin Casts Pressure Ridge Slash horizontally on approaching enemies
-1 Massive, 3x Massive left
雨氷の太刀・壱の太刀・氷丘斬 Uhyou no Tachi: Ichi no Tachi: Hyoukyuuzan (Glazed Ice Longsword: First Blade: Pressure Ridge Slash) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m +) Type: Offensive Handseals: 10 Chakra Consumption: 1x Massive Description: Hyouka simply charges a massive amount of Ice release chakra into her sword over 10 handseals of time and swings it. This creates a sharp, thin stream of ice blue light that jets out of her sword tip as she swings, creating a long wave following her slash trajectory a maximum of 30 meters long. Wherever the wave passes, triangular chunks of ice grow out to form a scene similar to a pressure ridge. These ice chunks are of varying sizes, no longer than half a meter on any side.
Anything the wave cuts deposits tiny ice crystals that cover up the wound left by the attack.
Note: The slash wave has level 8 strength. All ice left behind in it's wake has level 1 durability. This technique has a one post cool down.
It wasn't long after he'd made contact with the unidentified Kumogaukre shinobi that things began to heat up. First the mysterious disappearing of one of their kin, signalled with a poof!"Well, that was weird" he thinks aloud, brows furrowing. What hope he had in the Kumo-nin's effectiveness as a team had now dropped by a third. However, shortly after things really began to get interesting. The lake before them, prevously as still as you would expect on a day like today, was beginning to ripple, as if something churning. His tracker scanned the area up ahead and saw that just as expected, people had began to spill out of the stronghold. The game was afoot, and he watched on on as a cacophany of action unfurled around them. 'This is getting messy..' The two up ahead seemed to have it handled, and the two remaining Kumogaukre shinobi, well - surely the Raikage wouldn't have sent them in to the fold if they didn't think they were capable enough. Looking off to the distance, he could faintly see an oncoming blanket of what looked like mist coming towards them, spreading from what looked like the direction the other two had been.
'You should fall b̶̝̉a̵̢̕c̸̢̓k̵̭̑''
Yuurei looked around for the source of the voice, but was met with nothing but the back of the Kumogakure shinobi's heads - it was oddly familiar, and he began to feel a dull warmth pounding at his left temple. If it wasn't for the fact that he was wearing a herbalist's respirator, he would have presumed they might have laced the mist up ahead which loomed forwards like a solid block. ''f̸̫̂͘a̵̱̚ĺ̵̢͈ḻ̶̽̈́ ̸͈̉̕b̷̲̐a̶͍͛̈́ck' there it was again, clear as ever, and distracting him from the situation that was unfolding around him. The mist had quickly covered the area, taking Yuurei's vision with it and all he could see was white. Was he dead?
His hands, unfamiliar to him at this point, drew together to form a string of seals. 'What's happening?! His legs sunk in to the earth below, the rest of his body following in quick succession. His fingernails dragged through the damp earth to resist the pull of the technique, but to no avail. He was gone.
